The Wolf (or Death) was my favorite part of this film. The way he is introduced by his whistle and his dark dark aura and color scheme, to his very sarcastic way, yet terrifying way, of saying to Puss *"I am going to take your own life because you don't value yours"* is done exceptionally well. He is definitely one of my favorite DreamWork villains of all time. Literally, every time he was shown on screen I got goosebumps just like Puss, and the way they made him feel Fear and how that it can also fear us humans is just amazing. The other characters were amazing as well but The Wolf (Death) is the one character that makes this movie so interesting, deep, dark, and meaningful.

@@bewareking6458 You have a point, but he was Puss's villain for a while, until the very end when he was not because he started to value his life (only his last just like we only have one). In the end, The Wolf (Death) is more like an Anti-Hero, but he can be someone's villain too. A person like Big Jack Horner could have The Wolf as his villain since he is really The Villain I guess you could say since he was the only one who wanted something selfish, not to mention his lack for life in general except himself. Watching Perrito snuggle up next to Puss while he was laying there helplessly trembling with his heart racing made me cry so badly in the theater. I'm not even joking. Perrito is my favorite character in this film, and I kind of thought he was going to be my least favorite. It's the Brett Hand effect. He was so nice and clingy, you think he's gonna be annoying, but then you find out their backstory and man I'm myself teary eyed again. Why do I relate so damn much to nice people?? Why can't I relate to jerks 🤦 EVEN THE SCENE WHERE PERRITO STARTS SWEARING. HE GETS KIDNAPPED AND HE AND THE CAPTURES BECOME BEST FRIENDS THROUGH VULGARITY THAT'S THE SWEETEST THING EVER 🤧

The portrayals of trust issues and anxiety attacks struck a chord in me as someone with those issues myself. I was worried the dog would get annoying, I was bracing for it because I’m so used to that from the goofy sidekick characters, but instead I resonated with him and his naivety. Someone who doesn’t even realise what’s really happening to them until it’s pointed out and just wants to help others feel happier than they do. My brother and I could easily tell "oh dang he's having a panic attack" and my dad, who doesn't get them, was like "oh so that's what that is like?" so it's really cool to see because it gives people a frame of reference. I haven't seen many movies or shows that portray panic attacks even though it's not like they're rare, so if it happens to someone who has never had one before, they have no idea what just happened to them or any way of coping, which has happened to someone I know.

To console you, the theatre i saw this in was jam packed. And yes, there were load of little timmies scared by the main villian, but in the fun way, they kept anticapating his next apearence.

I think one important thing that makes Death such an effective villain is the way the protagonist reacts to him. Puss, even though at first doesn't take him seriously, treats him like a genuine threat that could harm him. After that introduction scene he never makes fun of Death, actually fears his presence and as the audiences who mostly root for Puss and are placed in his shoes...or boots, we feel for him and his heavy anxiety over Death stalking him, waiting to take his last life. There was no compromises that could be made everytime Death is on screen, you either run or face him, and that lack of option in dealing with the villain is just perfect because it showcases just how much of a force of nature he is. A vulnerable hero is a compelling hero, and Death helps to craft that image on Puss. Great work on Dreamworks' part in coming up with this simple yet at the same time multidimensional and compelling villain that is actually scary. Caught me off guard with how much they nailed Death and his dynamics with Puss.

the film reportedly earned 265 million in the box office with a 90 mil budget, nearly tripling the money put into it, and this masterpiece deserved every penny thankfully i think dreamworks got the message that we wanna see more of this creativity and style in their future projects

It’s not made any profit in U.K. or Ireland lol jk (ps it’s not been released in U.K. or Ireland yet, it comes out in February 3rd 2023 for Britain and Ireland but everyone has now just pirated it tbh)

@@Britishbjornis ah that makes sense, glad it at least seemed to do well in other regions. plus, me personally, even if i already saw it once at home, i would totally wanna go see it again in an actual theater, so hopefully the uk and ireland ppl feel the same way.

@@prodfife I hope it does well, like universal pictures have just released the trailer for it in Britain, plus it getting released around half term in Britain and Ireland so kids will be off school and other bonus it won’t be competing with Avatar in British cinemas. I do hope it does well like I loved it but late release can hurt it tbh especially a two month release away from the rest world got it. Funny thing they released puss in boots: last wish, adventure guide to the U.K. with British reference and Irish reference to out culture like pubs, bomb fire night and Saint Patrick day lol

I watched this movie, and I loved every fucking second of it! Everyone on YT is saying how good it is, so I don't think it has flopped. It is THE best movie I have ever seen. It gave me goosebumps every time Death's whistle was heard. I was actually afraid that Puss was going to die in multiple scenes. I watched this movie twice within 3 days. I hope they make a Puss in Boots 3.

I adored the scene where Puss was having a panic attack, it was incredibly emotional for me. My service dog who was mainly for a severe anxiety disorder passed away in March. His name was Neo. It reminded me of all those times he would lay down on my chest while I would have a panic attack in public, and how he would look at me with those sweet soulful eyes.

I saw this movie the other day and I gotta say it was stellar. No it was fantastic! It had everything going for it. Themes, animations, characters, plot, comedy, and fights were all on point! It feels super rare these days for anything to come out that's actually good. There was no agenda here just solid entertainment. This movie absolutely crushed Disney and even Pixar movies for 2022. Definitely a gem that deserves praise and money cause they REALLY didn't need to this hard on a sequel of a spinoff from Shrek. But I'm so glad they did. Easily worth every penny and I'm gonna recommend it to everyone. Because like you Nick, I REALLY want this to do well so we can get more quality stuff like Puss in Boots 2.

I saw this movie today with my partner. We were blown away. The entire theatre was children and their parents and not one kid cried, or had to be taken out of the theatre bc it’s too long. No kids talked through the entire duration the entire cinema was watching and invested. At the end the entire theatre clapped. It was all smiles, including the parents. I cried multiple times throughout because of the emotion and care put into the characters and their storyline’s. Please go see this. It’s definitely worth a watch.
