And to think that the studio execs initially refused to hire Jeff, just because he wasn’t known as a “comedic actor” at the time. They eventually hired him only because Jim Carrey talked them into it. New Line initially only offered Jeff $50,000 for the role, (compare that to the $7,000,000 that Jim was paid for his role), hoping that he would turn it down. Moral of the story: most studio executives don’t know shit.

It’s that quick and subtle slip before Harry gets back to the bar that makes these guys just hilarious to watch. Unintentional humor is the best.

When Lloyd Christmas is at the bar and pulls up the jacket and juts out his behind it just cracks me up.

This was filmed at The Depot in Salt LAke City Utah . I used to go inside that building regularly in the 2000’s , not knowing that this classic movie had a scene filmed inside of it!!! Pretty awesome to find that out

Omg! Thank you! I just watched the movie for the what? 100th time? And I only now noticed that slip. And the last hour I tried to figured out if it was planned or not. And with your comment I can find peace somehow :D

Just a genius comedy masterpiece from start to finish. It has everything. Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels are amazing in it! Me and my ex wife loved it. We watched it all the time. It brings back so many memories.

It’s why the film is timeless and works so well beyond the jokes - we actually care about them as human beings and are invested in their outcomes.

I just realized this: Isn't it odd how Helen Swanson pushed her daughter-in-law, Mary Swanson, to go out on a date with Harry, even though she was still married? ...and to add insult to injury, her husband was still kidnapped and held for ransom?
@darth856
Жыл бұрын
She probably didn't think of it as a romantic date. Just something to take Mary's mind off things. But it is a bit weird that she seems so unbothered by her son (?) being kidnapped.

The jokes the sequel had that weren't recycled just didn't hit for me the sequel should have come out in the early 2000s instead of the prequel
