I always liked having Putt-Putt colored green when *I* played this game as a kid, too!

This would be the version of the game we all played in nursery school, along with the Putt-Putt and Fatty Bear Activity Pack.

Interesting, I'd say. I know that this is an old MS-DOS styled game, but it's kind of weird to have to install this game with five floppy discs at once (they are usually up to 1.44 MB, so in total the amount would go up to 7.2 MB if I'm not mistaken). And yet I still never see Putt-Putt's gas gauge go down to "empty," no matter how far he travels...

Heh, that music sounds pretty funny. I usually prefer the ScummVM MIDI music. Another odd behavior on ScummVM's part is how when you play the Mac versions of the Humongous classics, it replaces that smaller light-yellow cursor with the standard DOS/3DO cursor. And of course, it also adds the "air escaping" sound when Putt-Putt's tires go flat. Those abridged and mad-libs -ridden conversations are interesting. It's not like when "Putt-Putt Goes to the Moon" was made, which was optimized for CD-ROM, so both formats had some mad-libs dialogue, and the floppy version would just omit dialogue and a few extra bits. Of course, I remember as a kid, we had the DOS version of "Putt-Putt Joins the Parade" on CD-ROM (I can still clearly remember the jewel case for it, too.)

I agree that the MIDI music in this version sounds strange (although it sounds nice otherwise), and I also personally like the MIDI music options ScummVM offers for the Humongous Entertainment games with sprite graphics.

To be honest, it kind of sounds like the soundtrack belongs from a Super NES or a Sega Genesis game. Like listen to it, it kind of sounds like 16-bit music.

I...kinda can't agree with this. If you want Genesis-like music, listen to this game on the MS-DOS version. If you play with a Sound Blaster, then you're getting music synthesized out of a chip that's already a very close relative to the Genesis' chip. As for SNES, I can't agree with that either. The SNES had a way more respectable synth chip than this. Well, that's not to say that the Macintosh didn't have a respectable MIDI synth system, as developers who knew what they were doing could make it sound really amazing, but this is not a case of that. I'm guessing the reason you're probably making the connection is because it's a synthesizer that sounds more advanced than an NES but still not on par with digital audio.

+GeorgeQGreg I don't know how accurate this is, but I've seen another video on KZitem of Fatty Bear running on a real Mac and it didn't sound too much better than this. Also, for whatever reason the floppy version sounds totally different from the CD version (the instrumentation is entirely altered), so there's that too. Pretty sure this isn't too far off from how it's supposed to sound.

This is very amazing! The fact that there is this much dialog changed/Left out was interesting to watch. If I may ask, do you know the version of SCUMM it uses? I thought it was kind of silly they used the same voice clips for the Colored Street cars xD. The Male cars sounded like a higher-pitched Smokey.

I'm not sure what you're trying to do? I've run multiple HE games on a Mac with no issue. If you're trying to run the Windows version on a Mac...yeah, that's your problem there. You need to use the original disc; there will be a Macintosh side to it and you'll be able to run it from there.

+Oh no, gloop! It was on eBay for quite a long time. I remember it being listed for nearly two years at $30, but I think it was obvious he wasn't going to sell it at such an unreasonable price. Later on he lowered the price down to $10 (ironically after I offered $15 for it while it was still 30, though he turned that down) and I decided to go for it.
