We talk about putting a $200 4 row full aluminum radiator in our 2000 chevy suburban 1500 originally it had a 34" radiator, we replaced it with a 28" set-up for the sake of simplicity, also it was 1/3 of the cost to run the 28" set-up, even with buying the external transmission cooler, new line fittings and the correct fan shroud. this bolted up to the existing holes from the factory, if you are going to use the factory trans lines you will need to adjust them by bending them or replacing the ends to make up the difference of the 3" difference, just a heads up.
The truck runs great! nice and cool all summer long here in Phoenix AZ. We added 2 10" cooling fans for when we are off trail cruising or doing some slow crawling, to assist the main cooling fan, but we have not yet had to run them yet!
