I havent had access to ceramics since 2011 and recently decided to try my hand at digging clay from my parents backyard, processing it, and then primitive pit firing my creations. I did it once successfully in high school but basically have to relearn the whole process! Anyway, I stumbled across this video while looking for things to watch/ listen to while working on my first lumpy plant pot in over 12 years. It's so cool to see all your old projects and that you are giving them new life with your plants! Thanks for giving me a little something to look forward to!

Hi Tate I enjoyed your pottery story, My condolence . Not only is your pottery beautiful , it has precious memories. Your plants are enhanced sitting in their new saucers...now you have to get back into your ceramics ...your other plants feel left out.

Great to finally see your pottery, it looks really good. Makes me miss my days in ceramics class back in high school. If only I had been as into plants then as I am now I would've made a bunch of pots.

I also was sad that Beloit College didn't have ceramics while I was there. When I was a prospective in 1994, they DID have a kiln and classes. BUT the teacher was retiring and they did not have anyone to replace them. So sadly, during my Freshman yeat in 1995/96, the kiln was dismantled. I actually have a few bricks that I saved! As I was a Studio Art major (Printmaking) and spent a TON of time in Wright, I was very sad to see that program leave. I LOVE that you got those pots back. What nice memories!

I love making pottery. I started doing it in 2019 and I have turned my basement into a pottery studio and I am saving up for a large kiln. I am hoping to do it full-time someday. I love your pottery and even though you say the glaze wasn’t done well on some of the pieces, they still look beautiful.
