Hi! Kindly ask you to give me feedback about my questions below, thanks! You always says that we need to centralize our pieces, however, there is an opening “Edge” that makes the opposite thing. Moreover, I read a book by Vladimir Agafonov, gm of the past, and he wrote, that it is the second opening with the highest win rate. Can you please write me, is 31-26 a solid opening now, or just a joke? Can you please give me a couple advises on how to use it properly then? Do GMs plays it now? Thank you very much!

As a CM, I can answer: 1.31-26 and 1. 30-24 are the most flexible openings in International draughts at any level. The reason why many masters might dislike 1. 31-26, is because at their level, they can play Keller 1. 33-29 which is one of the most unbalanced openings, and they have natural intuitition when they should increase advantage and when they should return balance for a draw. Similarly, many tactical masters like CLASSICAL formations which are achievable by starting the game with 1. 31-27 or 1. 33-28, because classical formations demand good tactical vision. Unlike on 8x8 board, on 10x10 board there is no reason to play for establishing quick centre with white pieces by moves like 1. 32-28 or 1. 33-28, because black can gain back a tempo with immediate exchange, and at upper intermediate levels you should not be interested in simplifying positions very quickly. For the same reason, if you play 1. 31-26 and your opponent plays 1. .. 29-23 or 1. .. 28-23, you can make an exchange without giving tempo to black. If you choose 1. 31-26, you should be focused on keeping control over square 27: generally, you should be interested in getting this square by own piece.

Lidraughts caters for International Draughts puzzles but not American Checkers puzzles. Any recommendation on which platform to use for American Checkers puzzles?
