This Doctor Who serial is easily one of the memorable ones. An absolute classic among the very best Doctor Who serials ever. I have watched it countless times. And thoroughly enjoyed it every single time.

This is my favorite episode. It's crazy that this came out before the images of Mars actually showed what looked like actual pyramids. And I believe that Sutekh is the greatest villain ever on Doctor Who. He's basically a Thanos/Darkseid type and having the doctor defeat him is amazing. And can we talk about the lovely Sarah Jane? Her face draws you in with her vulnerability, sweetness and beauty. RIP Elizabeth

It's a brilliant story,an all time classic. Not my own personal number one though I would put it just behind The Genesis Of Daleks.

Agreed......This is one villain I would like to see come back in the modern series...the scene withe the two mummy robot, one tells the truth while the other tells lies and you can only ask one question, is gold.....

Definitely right up there as one of the top stories. Early Baker (before he began to exert too much power of the show), especially the whole Hinchcliffe era is peak Classic Who IMHO. Other Doctors had great stories, but Early Baker has more than most, Sarah is his perfect companion. Hand of Fear (Sarah’s last story) is also very strong and a fave of mine.

Totally agree. Hinclife said in an interview once that Doctor Who suited the horror style of story. Pyramids of Mars The Brain of Morbius etc and he was right.

It was a gamechanger for me, back in '75, regards Tom Baker. Shockingly, while I generally loved the series, I wasn't entirely convinced by Baker. 'Pyramids' changed my mind.

I don't know if its the best but its one of the best. The robots on the sand miner, Dr. who taking over the time lords, the first episode with Leela, the planet with 6 months of ice times, the ark in space. Very few weak Tom Baker ones. The Talons of Weng Chi ang has to vie with this as one of the best. I would probably go with that one. The one with Sarah getting buried in a mine explosion and coming up with an aliens hand.

I liked this story in billions of ways although I thought the fact Harry Sullivan had left the TARDIS team by this story and stayed behind on modern day Earth with UNIT at the end of Terror of the Zygons which is one story I quite like but IMO Pyramids of Mars is millions and bilions of times far superior and I tend to prefer watching Pyramids to watching Zygons myself . It would have been very interesting to have seen Harry in this serial Pryamids of Mars along with Dr 4 and Sarah Jane ,

Was it the best ever story or just average for it's era? What can be said is that at 11.3 million viewers compared to a typical new who Dr Karen averaging 3.1 million viewers... Something is VERY wrong now.

True the ratings for Doctor Who today aren't anywhere near the golden era of the mid 70's but you'll lucky these days to find any TV show that gets over 10m viewing figures off a single viewing (disregarding views on iplayer etc).

I like that it was for kids. Never took itself too seriously and Baker excelled at that. Later ones got way too serious, brutal and violent at times. The one where humans are marched into an automated butcher shop to be turned into cybermen was god awful.

Ooh I disagree the best Dr Who story is season 7's Inferno as until the Deadly assassin you never have Dr Who so raw and in naked danger also it's one of the few times the doctor loses and he has to convince people he can't save to save him, also seeing unit as a group of fascist lead by a Dueling scarred eye patched Nazi brigade leader, of the Baker stories it's not even my favourite as Face of Evil I'd say has far bigger ideas and even inspiration Doug Adams in his 3rd Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy books.
