how long can you save the dye? is there a shelf life, and do you do anything to prep the eggs. I have been told that store bought eggs have a wax on them that needs to be cleaned off first. Some of my dyes have turned out blotchy - (even after I washed the eggs - using a vinegar water mix). Any suggestions?

When marking the initial lines in the egg with pencil, I've found it easier to use a rubber band. You can position the band anywhere and at any angle, the rubber makes it grip. Use a band that's somewhat wide, make sure it's lying flat and trace along the edge with your pencil. No jagged lines.

How do u do that without crushing the egg? How do you get the egg white and yolk out of the shell
@donmiller2908
2 жыл бұрын
@@lindabaker1776 How do you place a rubber band on the egg so that it doesn't crush the shell? Easy, you just place the band on the egg. Eggs are surprisingly tough. hold an egg in the palm of your hand, over a sink, wrap your fingers around it and squeeze. You can squeeze as hard as you want and the egg will not break. The shape of the egg distributes the force equally. The only way I know of to remove the yolk and white is to make a small hole on both ends and blow it out. I believe they make little devices that will suck it out for you, that way you'll only need one hole. Any good Pysanky website will have tools for sale that will remove the interior.

Now I'm wondering if this couldn't be done with our Finnish Mignon eggs. They are chicken eggs that have been emptied, filled with nougat and plugged with sugar. I'm only worrying whether the sugar plug would melt in the dye...

This is probably a stupid question but I'm going to ask anyway...😁I hope that's okay? I am wondering if these eggs are meant to be disposed of after a certain time like the Easter eggs are in the US, or are they kept around for undefined periods of time? Are they just an Easter time decoration or something more permanent? It sure seems like a lot of work for something that is only temporary. They're beautiful and the process sure seems relaxing, but wow...a lot of effort plus the cost of materials and tools for something that is going to be thrown away in a couple days. Pretty cool technique regardless of their life span. Thanks for sharing!

Great tutorial. So glad I discovered your channel! Your tips on symmetrically dividing the egg are the best. Please, however, watch the pronunciation. It's "PY(short i as in sit) - san - ky(short i as in sit)", with the stress on the first syllable - not "pee - SAN - kee" (which is the Polish pronunciation).
