Hey there! I really identified with this video. I'm a 28-year-old geologist, currently between jobs, and I'm studying programming (through your books, by the way) to maybe get a restart on my career. More frequently than not, I felt like I couldn't do it, that I'm old, that I'm dumb, that "computer stuff is for genius people". Through your books, I learned how wrong I was. Seeing this part of your presentation got me even more motivated, Mr. Sweigart. It's great to see that people with a computer science background want other people to have the opportunity to learn and create their own things. Thanks, really! This really motivates me.

Thanks. The best thing about learning to code as a kid in the 90s was that I didn't realize it was supposed to be hard. I could just mess around and have fun and it was fine.

Hey Al, I'm 7 years into programming and work as a web dev now. In freshman year when no CS classes were offered I purchased your first book and your book on pygame. Your simple books helped me so much in spots where codecademy was unclear, something which is targeted towards beginners. Thank you and honestly I don't know what I'd be doing without picking up your books. I loved this talk and the part about diversity too. Please keep up the great work and you're helping more people than you know!
