Following the PKY routine I get a brightened, plumped, and softened effect unlike anything I've experienced with other skincare. I don't pay too much attention to the "up" and "down" line labeling and have over time found the ones that work best for my mature skin. (BTW, the black tea eye cream is quite good.)

While it seems like common sense, a video discussing how much product of every type we "should" be using as a baseline seems like it would offer a lot of value. I recognize some people will do 7 skins and use up toner very quickly, or may prefer slathering something on, but the moisturizing application suggestion feels like the tip of the iceberg when it comes to identifying issues with a routine. Someone putting on too much of a hydrating toner won't do much damage, but someone using 3x the amount of retinol, vitamin c or an AHA could. Conversely not using enough sunscreen can damage someone's skin as much as overusing actives. Conceptualizing the amount of product that one will use over time also helps inform purchasing decisions, especially given how many empties videos on KZitem contain insane amounts of products. Identifying products that will allow you to achieve the results you desire while using smaller amounts, as with moisturizers, also goes to determining the comparative value of a product (if I use one moisturizer a month that costs $25, I'd save money spending $50 a month on a moisturizer that lasts me 3 months). I recognize that everyone will have unique preferences, and any guide you create on the matter will need to be flexible by nature. That said, I also feel like the video could double as another iteration of "how to set up a skincare routine" or "including optional steps in your routine." It could also serve to compare different styles of achieving results (sheet mask use and cost vs. jar masks, or "if I just want hydration am I better off with a toner or serum"). Anyways no pressure, but just a thought.
@AliceintheRabbitHole
3 жыл бұрын
So true. I was reading a thread last night about "most returned products" and Sephora/Ulta employees were continually saying intense skincare products. I'm not surprised as its easy to overdo actives and then arrive at the conclusion that they don't work! I did a video a while ago covering all the steps (and for once I actually still like this video instead of hate it - well, I hate the brows 😆): kzitem.info/news/bejne/r5l9tIl_s2peim0 A "how much product" is a good idea! Especially in this age of Instagram/Tik Tok dripping-all-over-face-from-the-dropper (shudder)!!

It's zinc, right? I do understand that for those who have an allergy to the chemical varieties (although if you can - there's no reason to use mineral filters!)

@@AliceintheRabbitHole no, it's titanium... I mean! It's packed with good ingredients tho...

OHHHHHH. Well that's an odd choice 😕 Yeah, zinc over titanium for sure!

You’ve become my Janet from The Good Place. Anytime I have a skincare question, there you are with wit, humor, and facts! Last night I watched one of your videos in which it took a few tries to remember the word “compressed”. You’re definitely consistent and I feel like it’s a running gag for those of us in the know 😆 Thank you for sharing your research and humor with us! ❤️

Can you tell how mad that video made me lol. Seriously though, not happy with vogue for posting that. At least without a disclaimer stating, "warning: this is not how dermatologists and doctors recommend to apply sunscreen"

good to see more reviews on the brand, I had no idea these products were divided by the base extract. I have an oily/combo sensitive skin and I've been loving the moisture serum (sometimes I use it instead of a moisturiser in my AM routine) and the essence toner mainly for their texture.

Haven’t tried Pyunkang Yul but it’s on my list. Did get the giant bottle of Rovectin’s Micellar Water you recommended. Almost ready to start using it. Had totally forgotten about JLo’s olive oil launch. Wonder if it’s at TJMaxx yet? ❤️❤️

It's such an interesting micellar water - soapier than most (soapier? Is that the right word??), but also extremely effective for makeup/sunscreen removal!
