Excellent points brother , it's sad no one recognizes the value of our elders , their wisdom is golden . I need deeper thinking people I can fellowship with I'm drowning and starved for people of high morality and character. If I knew a single FreeMason I would have found you sooner , I never met my grandfathers and they were involved but I wasn't told about that until just a month or two ago My parents kept me isolated So I read

Hello brother from Shades Valley Lodge No 829. Located in Homewood,AL. I am JD at my lodge and I am 26. My lodge has a lot of young blood, but we have a lot of active brothers who are older. But the age gap exists in many of the lodges that I have visited around my area. I believe it is a difference of tradition. Also with all of the activities that are around nowadays and with social media, people don't see the need for the fellowship that comes from being a member of a lodge. I don't know how correct I am, but that is my educated guess

Once, after a degree I attended at another lodge, a very elderly man stood up, one who clearly didn't make lodge too often, as all the brethren of the lodge were excited to see him there, and told the new Mason "Don't stop coming to lodge". That's basically all he said. When I was offered an opportunity to speak, I called attention to that powerful message and encouraged him to follow the council of that veteran Brother.

I saw a mason at the Lounge I have attended. That looked only 18. That was nice to see. I am 33 years old. I think when father's are Mason's. Easier to join immediately. When your Grandpa is a mason ( in my case ) I notice more of a mystery. When you mentioned dress may differ in the age Gap. Call me superficial I think a more appropriate look is a suit and tie. Although I have seen very casual wear. I myself feel much nicer in one my 2,000 dollar suits. I feel like a million bucks! Unfortunately I spent all my money on the suit. 😆😄🙄. Anyhow. When I thought of Mason's I thought 40 and up. But! The first gentlemen that called me was 27 ! My younger !!

Hello Brother Jerrod, In our lodge (Frédéric Royal No 008 East of The Netherlands (1759)) we find it a great privilege to have so many Brothers of different ages, having an experience gathered of appr. 900 years at a meeting! The older Brothers respect and are open for new influences (technical or in ideas) and the younger Brothers are very pleased and are fortunate to have the wisdom of the older Brothers in our lodge, so we have great harmony. I bathe in the warmth of our Brotherhood; the feeling at meetings in or outside the lodge with my brothers or being in a ritual is something so positive, that it can not be described: a 'secret' of freemasonry, because you can only experience it when being a mason, let alone the warmth of the Brothers at other lodges in my country, and I can imagine worldwide, as the chain of our Brotherhood encloses the whole world. I find it very interesting to take note of and to learn about the differences of the Craft in different parts of the world, as I take also pleasure of watching your videos on KZitem about the Brothers in the State of Mississippi US. The second part of my response is a littlebit off-topic, but nevertheless: keep up the good videos! With Brotherly regards!

What's going on Brother from Hiram Lodge 12 in Yarmouth Nova Scotia, Canada. Really enjoy your channel....to kind of carry on with your piece, I am noticing a resurgence in Masonry across the Provence, most of the communities are quite rural, but on average initiating 3-6 brothers a year. I'm the youngest in my lodge at 30 but I would say the average is around 45, we do have our share of old timers but it's great to see growth.

Is it a common thing for Lodges to require a Master Mason to have known a candidate for at least a year prior to his petition?
@WhatisaMason
7 жыл бұрын
I can't say how common it is as I don't know each jurisdictions rules. Here in MS there isn't a time put on it, just that the Master Mason making the recommendation has "personal knowledge" of him. So, not a friend of a friend, so to speak.

My lodge (south gate potter 782) is somewhat a younger lodge. We have a few 50+ year members but not too many. Our youngest member is 21. My nephew is 20 and he just turned in his petition. Most of our members are 20 to 50. Our oldest is 90 and he's 65+ years as a mason. He's still very active too it's awesome. Bringing in new blood is easy sustainable is a problem tho. They want that MM and that's it. Heck we've had a couple guys become EA and never come back. I really do enjoy your channel keep it brother.

Happy to hear y'all have a good representation of age groups. It is just a matter of fact that you should always have more younger than older folks - that's just the way aging works.

Hello, the first time I asked for non-formal interview to make some questions I had and they told I was immature for my age (23 years old)), which I don't think so, then there was a second one and one of them told me that he expected more interestings questions from me and that made feel so embarrassed (I know he didn't say it in a rude way), so I didn't try to contact them since then, maybe they don't want young guys. I don't want to knock door at another lodge (even though I'm still very interested in Freemasonry), I feel like they are gonna say the same thing. What do you think Mr.? Should I try on another lodge? Sorry for the bad spelling.
@WhatisaMason

I would try another lodge or even re-express your desires to the first lodge so they "know you are serious", if you will. We have an 18 year old Master Mason in our lodge (he turned in his petition the day he turned 18. A 21 year old Worshipful Master Initiated me into Freemasonry. Age shouldn't matter.

I am 33 years old and am the 2nd youngest member in my lodge... I think. The majority of my lodge are a lot older than I am but for the most part the age gap isn't an issue, I get on great with the older members of the lodge and I love talking to my brothers, I love listening to things they have to say and I learn a lot from them. Yes there are one or two members who won't really bother to interact and engage in conversation but hey, such is life.
