Im excited to see your Philippine adventures. Here are my top recommendations on what to do and places to go in PH. - Siargao Island(Learn to surf and feel the island vibes). - Britania Islands - Bohol Island(See the chocolate hills - has to be on summer, see the smallest monkey) - Visit only if your nearby. - Coron - El nido - Palawan - Eat balut - Cebu (Southern part is full of waterfalls, about 50 of them but I would only recommend the biggest falls) * Aguinid Falls * Kawasan Falls * Inambakan Falls * Mantayupan Falls --- Badian Canyoneering ( A must thing to do) --- Oslob Swim Whale Sharks (A good youtube content about on how animals are used as a tourist attraction. Its a love and hate thing). There are a lot of things to do in PH, this is only just a small recommendation :) ENJOY, I love your sailing channel (Im a filipino btw).

First of all, I wanted to extend my condolences to you Ben for the loss of your father. Having lost my dad a couple of years ago, I know what it is like to lose a parent. Secondly I wanted to shout out to all those who are viewing Ben and Ashley's videos. I can see that this one received 15,000 views, but only 1,300 pressed the "like" button. Come on guys, one of the ways you can support them is to tell them (and KZitem itself) that you liked the video. It helps their search engine optimization (SEO) and helps their KZitem channel overall. So don't be lazy and watch the video. Press that LIKE button!!! One of the costs of sailing around the world happens to be medical, and I have been wanting to bring up a subject to both of you for a while. I know you love to eat fresh-caught fish (and I have been really envious of you). But I've stopped eating a lot of fish (especially Tuna and Swordfish) because of the high mercury content. I've been doing a lot of research on mercury and suffice it to say, it is not pretty. Anyway, when I saw you guys eating Mahi I looked it up. And while it is not as high as tuna, it is in the middle of the pack on the list of fish containing mercury. And so I thought you might want to know. I thought you (and others out there with the same concern) also might be interested in knowing the mercury content of the fish you are eating. Here is the results of one study listing all the major commercially caught fish and their mercury content. www.fda.gov/food/foodborneillnesscontaminants/metals/ucm115644.htm All the best from cold and snowy Boston. Jim Andersen, Cat Boat Adventures, Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts.

Cat Boat Adventures Yes you are correct and totally agree. Important is to learn all the fruits, herbs and veggies they can find around the islands. Fruits with flesh and if organic with seeds are extremely important for health and anti-aging. Especially if all animal meat is cut out. Everyone does need a Hawaii shirt. Let’s make it fashion again.

I would imagine the mercury content varies widely depending how close you are to downstream of an industrial area.
@catboatadventures7208
5 жыл бұрын
@@capnbilll2913 Hi Can BillL. I think you are partially correct. But actually I think the mercury is all over the world now and is embedded in every fish in the ocean. But most particularly in the larger fish like tuna, swordfish etc, because they are at the top of the food chain. Again, Ben and Ashley should get their blood checked to see what concentration of mercury they have in their system. If it is high, it is very dangerous.

best thing I can think of is having internet access and a nice laptop and being a computer programmer or tester, you can literally work from home and sail around the world and make a killing from your salary to begin with, but consider, it costs 40k-80k a year after you purchase the yacht per year. Which tbh isnt bad at all! I need to save more money lol. I love your videos! thank you!

I would imagine that there is no way to plan absolutely everything on these epic voyages. You’ll probably just end up winging a lot of the stuff and dealing with the situations and scenarios as you encounter them. The most admirable part is the courage to take the leap and realize that risk and pleasure always go hand in hand. The trick is to be experienced enough to mitigate the risks without destroying the fun. It’s also fair to say that this is not an undertaking for a couple that suffers from major personality clashes and irreconcilable incompatibilities. You really need to love or at least seriously like someone, enjoy their company in close quarters for extended periods of time, and trust in their abilities, good sense, and judgment, before sharing an experience of this nature.

I really think your figure of 10-20% is way off. When you first buy your boat you need to budget the initial 10-20% of the purchase price for upgrades and cruising equipment. Not a yearly cost.

It really depends on what kind of yacht we are talking about and how she is equipped. I spent 15% value of my yacht for major lifting, big improvements and big service of all equipment. After that, I average about 7 000 $ on service yearly, which comes down to 2 % of the value of my yacht. I do all the work myself.

When you are planning to come to Vancouver? I would love to meet you and provide somethings and funding ....
$30k - $40K USD per year, is that because of your Water Maker? or your 2 Diesel Engines? I mean running engines is expensive? Is the Maintenance of the Engines that cost so much money? I believe you also stock up on propane tanks. I would expect fridges/washing machine to run for a while (several years). Do your fridges run on a 3 way system (like some RV's/ Caravans)? There are some things, you could do to reduce your expenses, you could get a solar cooker, but it takes space, and could reduce your gas usage. There are other systems, aswell. Apart from Growing your own vegetables and Yes there is that Island that you can free land (infamous Bounty Mutanty), this could be done with some hydoponics, everything takes space I guess.
