You guys are precious. Definitely would say singleness and dealing with it looks different as you get older. I'm speaking as a 43 year old single woman who deeply loves the Lord, by His grace. I leave this advice for others. There’s a lot of work to do while single, both for yourself and in preparation for your future partner. Remember that marriage is a part of your life and not your entire life, your life is made for more than just being married. Pray that you will make the best use of your time while single and don’t be anxious about being married. It may come if God so wills it for you, and God’s will is always perfect.

Some food for thought: Since we are headed into the end times, it's prudent to focus on serving the Lord rather than focusing on an assumed "waiting season". What happens if your singleness is your life and not a season? Will you still love and serve God or does it depend upon your status?

Perspective from the older married folk… I wish I had really shored up my personal spiritual practices while I was single, because once you are joined to another you will be sorely tested at times and a target for the world and the negative forces. My relationship with Christ is what had kept us together through good and bad, but we struggled until we became equally yoked and focused outside of ourselves.

Re: best way to focus on singleness I love what you guys said! The Bible says when we are single we can give our attention all to the Lord! And when we’re married we have split attention. They both have their pros and cons! I definitely struggle to not make my husband an idol unknowingly! But while you said to focus on the Lord, friendships, education, I do 100% love all those areas and think they play a role! I am a homemaker and it’s became one of my greatest desires and joys and I wish I wouldn’t have gotten my degree (mostly bc I don’t use it and spent so much money for it) and instead did focus on the Lord first, friendships and then finding a husband. Not necessarily my education. Sure my husband may pass away and I’d have to provide for myself but I don’t feel that’s something I need to focus on. Because I know God would help me make a way. Prayerfully odds are he won’t and looking back I think society had me so much thinking I HAD to do everything on my own and provide for myself when really God made us for community and many of us to procreate and many of us indeed will get married so why shouldn’t I make that an active part of my life, If it’s a God given desire I have and I’d personally rather be a homemaker then work outside the home. Lots to unpack here but it’s something God has shown me, how I put education before marriage. Again I think education is wonderful, but I just wish I wouldn’t have been so focused on it and avoided men like the plague lol! Although of course God worked it all out in His time and ways so I’m thankful!! So it’s a personal decision between us each and the Lord but that’s my story! I just feel women are so pushed into not getting married and not having a family, and so instead end up working to the bone and making education everything to them. Again all of those areas can be good things and we all have our own unique lives to live as God directs! When I personally look back would I rather have been married or got my degree though? I choose people not knowledge. (I know we can have both), I’m just saying my relationships are much much much more meaningful and special than knowledge and a workforce job. I’m saddened seeing society make marriage and families of lesser value. I believed those lies for so much of my life and now on the other side I am much more happy but it’s how God intended me personally to be, and to each their own!

As a single woman myself on the far side of 40 what I can share is that, singleness is a blessing. There is a reason why we are not in relationship and that is to do work within ourselves. So instead of bemoaning the fact that you're getting older and no guy in sight begin to pray for the guy who God will bring into your life. Focus on getting intimate with Jesus, because he is all you need. He knows your heart and he will make it happen for you. Faith is not just believing it is a physical thing that requires you to act and take steps in faith.

Hi friend. I’m sorry to hear this. I can’t say exactly what you should say or do - but I can tell you what scripture says. It says to honor your father and mother (Eph. 6:2). Since you are an adult, it is hard because you can make your own decisions but you are still called to honor your parents. So for your situation you need to pray and ask God for wisdom to discern what to do. You are an adult and can make your own decisions but at what point do you stop honoring your parents? Remember, this is a small season of your life that will soon pass. You will want to look back knowing you honored and loved your parents - wether that is following their rules or maybe communicating to them a different way you want to handle your relationship. I’m not sure, but I am praying for you!

@@yolanda5006 if it's any encouragement, I am now in S/E Asia for ministry. But as a young single girl, my parents were not happy about me wanting to leave Australia....to the point where my dad said he would put an end to it! A few months down the track and many prayers and tears later, they came round. Maybe this will encourage you some how. I know it's so hard to know how to honor parents when you're a young adult yourself and you want to act on your own convictions. Sometimes recognising the underlying motive can help like for me it was seeing that they were trying to love me the best way they knew how... it opened up a small window for me to share why I thought the Lord wanted me to go. I have never been engaged before but maybe praying about a scriptural basis for wanting to show some affection ( like the earlier chapters of Song of Solomon ) might give you some confidence about this...Then again I know it's so hard and I love that Ash encouraged you to go off what the Lord brings you to in prayer.

As someone whose marriage failed, the best advice I can give anyone is to love God more than anything else. The reason why my marriage failed is because we both took our eyes off God and tried to fill voids our own way. DIDN'T WORK!!!! Also, there is plenty of intimacy available for every Christian, even if they will be single their whole lives. True intimacy isn't sex, but seeing someone as they are and who they are. It is being there with someone no matter what. Sex is a special thing for married people and for God to bring people onto the earth. But it is not the reason for living. I still felt extreme loneliness in my marriage. Marriage is beautiful and I don't want people to feel bad for wanting it. I still do! Just don't expect it to solve all your problems. Marriage is serious and comes with other issues you may never have thought of. Just keep your focus on God. He is beautiful and loving. Practice His presence even if you struggle with loneliness. Examine your beliefs and see if any of them could be lies.

I understand it was what I needed but it wasn't God's best for me on both times I thought it was God's best for me but it wasn't, my question is How do you know that your not settling and actually receiving God's best?

Hello brothers and sisters in Christ, a couple years back I started to pray to God for a Godly woman as I was starting my walk with Jesus and my dream has always been to get married. Fast forward, this lady and I moved in together after a couple of months of dating and let’s just say we never gave each other space and slowly started to put God to the side .. I then became lacking of maturity and started becoming very manipulative. We didn’t workout and we broke up about 2 months ago but still kept in touch, there would be very nice fun days with her but there would be conflicts as well between. I definitely love her with everything I got, I do believe the Lord brought her to me but we had an argument today and told each other to never talk again and she blocked me … I’m scared, because for sure I would love to meet her again and do better for her as she deserves. Not sure if this separation could be God saying he has someone else for us? It’s just hard cause we had adopted a total of 7 animals together and now I won’t get to see 5 of them anymore … I’ll do my best to stay positive though, thank you guys for reading hehe God bless you guys this is the best community to be around with.

You cannot live together outside of marriage. That is never God's plan. Wait patiently and stay pure. Don't follow the worlds pattern, after all there is so much divorce and singleparenthood out there. Concentrate on your relationship with Jesus and He will send you the right one in His time. Ashley is right, find Godly friends and get into good fellowship and teaching. God bless you. X

Yes I agree living together without being married is not right … But definitely stay focused on the Lord & grow in your maturity in Him and become that Godly man He wants you to be and He’ll bring you a Godly woman who will compliment you and compliment to what God has for you and nothing is more neat and beautiful than waiting in the Lords will & timing and it happening there is great blessing in that! Stay strong and focused on God and abandon everything in His hands ❤️😊

We believe in waiting to have sex until marriage. We believe sex is a gift from God within the boundaries of a marital covenant. Thanks for asking :) ❤

Thank you wow preparing for marriage interesting I didn’t prepare for marriage maybe that’s why it was such a debacle lol too funny reading. Being married wow no I didn’t do any of that I just jumped in headfirst made all the mistakes and learned as I went but I guess in hindsight I probably would’ve been a better idea… prepare thank you for sharing that you guys are adorable 🥰🙏🤍🌈🖼❤️🔥
