Thank you so much for your videos! I garden in Fresno and you are the closest gardening KZitemr to my experience. I watch Garden Answer, Impatient Gardener and several others but you are the real deal for me. I’m in a 9b hardiness zone, but I’m way hotter for longer than you in summer. My drought situation may be more serious than yours as well. I’m hopeful that you will be a resource for learning to grow sustainably in my area. Your teaching method of short written notes and visuals with verbal explanation works for me. Love how you interview your father in law. He’s a very important resource and your interpretation/explanation for non experts is spot on. I hope he’s a recurring guest throughout the year because we are trying to develop an urban orchard and vegetable garden that we can maintain through our retirement years and pass on to our kids or the next owners. I also love cut flowers! You have a great video presence. Keep it up. I’ll continue to watch and share with gardeners in my area.

Hey Sara! Thanks for your kind comments! I was so encouraged to hear your thoughts! And totally agree…Fresno is it’s own microclimate in terms of summer heat!! And the watering is an issue for we Californians for sure! Maybe you could start a youtube channel!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼💪🏼🌸 I hope I can be helpful in future! I have learned SO much for my FIL and just hope others can too! ❤️ Thanks again!!

Just an observation...anytime you prune diseased plants or foliage you should disinfect your pruners so that you don't spread that disease to other plants. Also, am in San Diego zone 10 and your Pandora from Annies is noted as a short lived perennial. I just lost mine that was 2 yrs old last week when we dipped to 34*. It's supposed to readily reseed.

Hi! I’m gardening in zone 9 (So Cal) and wondering if it’s ok to cut back hibiscus plants that were just planted last fall? If so, how far back can I cut them down? They’re not looking so good after the winter. Thanks for your advice. Enjoying your videos! 😊

Hi Irene! Thanks for your comments! hibiscus are best cut back in Spring by a third. Cutting them back invigorates them and makes them bushy so you do probably want to. We just had a cold spell last week…I would wait until either you are sure you are past freeze or you see a tiny bit of growth! I have found hibiscus touchy in our area. I think we are too dry. That said, I have a neighbor who has two in the landscape. One grows each year to six feet tall after pruning down to two feet! It’s green and bloomy and loves it’s life. The same plant a few feet away…hates life! Yellow. No blooms. Small. All that to say, I think finding the right spot for it will be key! 🙏🏻😂🤩 Give it the season to try! Good luck!

my oleander’s leaves get dull and brittle during the winter. They don’t look very lively. Should I cut them back right about now?

I’m no expert but have found oleander very easy to prune at any time. I typically do a hard cut back in Winter/Spring because that’s when I think about them! Seems to work a treat!

Yes!! David Austin says to fertilise roses when you see some growth! And that’s what I did a few weeks back! And I am doing my perennials now…spring has sprung! Do it! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
