it would be more entertaining if you could remove the distortion in the round, it kills my ears. thank you.

46:00 So light doesn't just travel at the speed of light..... but the superposition on large scales (spacially) means we mainly only see the "light speed" photons in experiments.... Think I need to read more about this....

Light does travel at the speed of light. You will never see a violation of that in any experiment, classical or quantum. One can formulate the integrations in the path integral in such a way that one includes superluminal paths, but they all cancel out. It's really just a flaw in the way we calculate the wavefunctions of quantum fields. It's a highly inefficient "algorithm", we just don't seem to have a better one at the moment. There are, however, hints that one can arrive at exactly the same answers much faster, at least for certain types of physical theories. See Nima Arkani-Hamed's work on the amplituhedron. My personal feeling is (and this is an opinion, not science proper), that we have been missing the right framework for quantum fields for the last eighty years. We keep approaching it from the angle of classical observables, which are the final result, not from the underlying drivers of physical dynamics. That is what makes understanding quantum fields so hard. We are still short of a few new terms that can make understanding easier.
