For those who are curious, per the video notes and Mr.814, 34:00 is the portion of the track that was washed out by Typhoon Hagibis. いつもありがとうございます。

I rode this line in the opposite direction with a stop at the local Onsen at Tonosawa in September of 2019, two weeks before the line was damaged by typhoon Hagibis. It was a wonderful journey, and I hope the line is repaired very soon. The switchbacks alone are a very interesting feature!

Don't worry. this line serves on of the most famous hotspring resorts in all of japan. they'll have the track cleared , repaired, and replaced within 2 months, if not less time.

Amazing that they could build this without using rack rail technology! If this was in Switzerland, you could be sure they would've installed some racks, at least on the steeper sections!

I took this line earlier this year to get up to the top of the mountain. After Gora station, there is a further tracked rail car that takes you up a much steeper slope to the cable car station and from there, cable cars take you the rest of the way. It can become very busy on clear days, so get up there early to beat the hordes of tourists!
