By the grace of Guru Maharaj we present to you the next visual creation of the shabad, Poota Maata Ki Asees.
The composition of this particular tune transpired during our first pregnancy (Gaavan Kaur) by Vaheguru Ji’s Grace in 2014 and the Shabad was recorded in 2015 during our second pregnancy (Eesher Kaur) for our current album ‘Asees - Blessing’. We thank Maharaj for our children who have been such amazing blessings and inspiration in our lives.
We had heard this Shabad recited countless times without really understanding what Bibi Bhani Ji’s message to her son, Guru Arjun Dev Ji was. Our connection and understanding of this Shabad grew much deeper by Divine Grace on preparation of our journey into parenthood.
In trying to maintain a bond with Maharaj and our unborn child we further researched (khoj) the immersed message Gurbani had to offer us. The Universe, through its greatness, has allowed us to be a vessel for expressing the desires, hopes and deepest prayers of a mother (Bibi Bhani Ji) to her son (Guru Arjun Dev Ji) who subsequently would be given the Guruship in years to come. Guru Arjun Dev Ji have kindly offered these blessings to the whole world by merging them in Aad Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
On unveiling the loving blessings within this Shabad, each like a flower with its own intoxicating fragrance, our thoughts turned to parents everywhere, mother nature herself and the universe. We felt our arms cradle new life, just as many others around the world do and felt deep gratitude to mother nature, the Earth, who provides us sustenance and support. By looking even further than this we experience admiration and reverence for the Universe; how all of the planets, stars and moons are cradled within its vastness so carefully, and all life within it, just as we are.
We would like to dedicate this video to all women; those who have bared children, those who have held children in their wombs but not in their arms, those who were unable to do either. To those who have known their mothers and those who have not. To those who have loved and lost their mothers, and to those mothers who have had to bid their children goodbye.
Whatever your situation, your mother's blessings and those of all of your female (and male) ancestors are always with you.
Happy International Women’s Day
