My man Clive Anderson. I was literally just thinking to myself "ok ok that's quite enough with the mocking of foreign people's accent, it's funny but gotta be used in moderation". And then Mr. Anderson pipes up: "Is there a nationality that hasn't been cruelly abused". Being funny as an asshole is infinitely easier (see Jeremy Clarkson) than being funny while at the same time being modest, polite and empathetic. Mr. Anderson really is a role-model for me.

Alan being confused about Ferdinand the Bull and Stephen explaining that it's a book is highly amusing to me as a Swede, because over here the Ferdinand Disney cartoon is one of the ones that air every year at Christmas, and it's such a deep-seated tradition that anyone not being familiar with Ferdinand (in the form of a cartoon as opposed to a book) is just unthinkable.

Unfortunately for Alan's view, before the re-introduction of the horse in North America, several species of buffalo/bison were wiped out precisely because they were driven over cliffs in such huge numbers as a source of food. There used to be several species that were much large than today's buffalo/bison/whatever, but these were driven to extinction.

The Viet Minh and Viet Cong were two separate organizations. The former disbanded around 1960, and was effectively supplanted by the latter (which acquired its name long before the Vietnam War).

I must say, I do enjoy "Johnny" Sessions. While he lasted, he was really good fun. And yet some viewers hate him...
@Byson
Күн бұрын
Well, he was the only person EVER on the show to ever demand all the questions *plus answers* before the show. Other comedians occasionally used the questions (ex. answers) to come up with some jokes and/or anecdotes just before the show, but Johnny used the answers to then try to answer every question correctly as quickly as he could, to pretend he was exceptionally smart. Others (e.g Dara O'Briain) have shared stories on how insufferable this was, because not only was the footage this led to unusable, but it also made it very hard for the other panelists to riff and ad-lib on the actual questions. Ergo, he actually sabotaged the show to try to seem more intelligent than he was. And *that* is why people think he's a dick.

I'm really surprised Clive said "Squaw'. That's a real nono. I'm just waiting for the end when they all show a picture of a tipi instead of a wigwam. I have a little bet with myself that this will happen. As for Tatanka Iyotanka, he, like most Native Americans would have more than one name through his lifetime. The man called Crazy Horse (another mis-translation btw) also took his father's name.

The loan is on the keel or bottom of the ship which is forfeited if the money is not payed back on time. OLIVINE is the most abundant mineral in the planet. If elements are considered as substance as defined "that of which a thing consists; physical matter or material" then the best guess is Iron. Gladius pronounced gley-dee-uhs

@lemmypop1300

djsyko Not really. Wikipedia is quite accurate when it comes to study of nature: maths, chemistry, biology... But, problems arrive with social sciences, especially history. Even then, it is a great starting point for research, as it contains links to other sites and studies. It is quite fashionable to say Wikipedia is always wrong, when, in fact it is far from it.

No you aren't saying "death to you!" Alan, because gestures are subjective to the culture. The meaning of the gesture is created by the person interpreting it. I acknowledge that a culture will usually come to a consensus on the meaning of a gesture, which will affect how you interpret it, but that being said, the culture to which a thumbs up meant death has not existed for a long time. Yes I realize Alan Davies will never read this, but I like to explain things so people who do read it will potentially gain some insight.
