This has convinced me OLED is the way to go for my similar room. I always believed QLEDs superior peak brightness and anti-reflective screen would overcome window reflections..... but ... my word 😱 I cant believe how well the OLED superior contrast cuts through those mirror like reflections in the Christmas lights scene, it actually makes the QLED look sooooo weak and washed out despite the superior brightness. Well done Paul 👍 you've made me a believer 😉

My LG c9 is quite prone to reflections but so long as it's not placed on a wall facing a window it's fine. It copes well even under full sunlight in terms of brightness but reflections are the main problem in the daytime. Superb image quality compared to my last Samsung (not Q led TV). Positioning is key. Wall spot lights can also get reflected in the screen. No issue for us as we don't have any.

I went to Currys and the sales guy actually said to me that a lot of the screen size debate is hype and fashion. In a huge store 55" looks tiny against the 65"+ offerings but at home I can assure you IT'S NOT! Watching another video the guy said "Wanna save yourself $1000? Move your sofa closer to the tv!" And he's right. I game sitting 9'-10' away but if I really wanted "immersive" then all I have to do is move my chair 2' closer and save a shed load of dough. My 55" is 500 quid less than the 65" C1 and although I toyed with getting the larger screen, I in no way feel disappointed that I didn't. But each to their own, if you're set on getting a 65" tv Im not going to try to tell you not to. A friend of mine has the 65" A80J and it's a fabulous tv. If all you do is watch tv and movies you will not be disappointed. Hello Paul. Did you calibrate both TVs? On several forums i've read that QLEDs are very bad out of the box in terms of colours (no matter if you change viewing modes), while OLEDs used to be better calibrated from the start. According to those voices, after calibration they supposed to act similarly to OLEDs in many different environmental conditions. While watching your video, it looks like CX is still a lot better even in a bright room, while... it shouldn't? At least the difference should not be so big. Or maybe you did calibrate both of them and this is exactly what we get? Thanks.

No I didn't calibrate them as such but adjusted the brightness levels to match on one test and then maxed them out for others.
@zombipl

@@TheTechGiantKZitem Thank you for your quick answer. It would be great if you would have a possibility to get some calibration hardware, to adjust settings of both TVs to make this comparison a bit more fair. If you just changed the brightness levels and viewing modes, then we can assume your test is an "out of the box" comparison, which is also important, but do not say much what those panels are capable of. With proper calibration, OLED may get better in bright room, but also QLED should get a little bit closer in the same environment to this CX in terms of colors accuracy. Is it possible you would make another test in the future after calibration?
@TheTechGiantYouTube
3 жыл бұрын
@@zombipl The reason why I don't calibrate the TV's is that 99% of people will never do that. Also even if adjusted in some way it then leaves it open to arguments that it is not how someone else would have set it up. This way it is down to how the manufacturer decides they should look and I can't be accused of adjusting one to look better than another. It's a bit like buying a car. Most will buy a car from a dealer with the engine being left how the manufacturer produced it.But more power can be extracted from them if the engines were tuned,and some people do that,but most never will. So I'm essentially drag racing 2 standard cars,and not ones that have been remapped to get the best out of the engines. The main points of the video were to highlight the differences in brightness,reflections and viewing angles,and I feel that even if adjusted the results would still show that the QLED can go brighter,has slighter worse viewing angles but is better at handling reflections. Maybe I should learn to not to drift off subject by passing judgment on other areas. I may look to setting the TV's up in some sort of calibrated way,but having done this in the past I know it will just open up another can of worms. I once even applied Rtings settings,and people said how shit both TV's looked,and people applying the same settings at home agreed.And if I'm honest myself,I thought they looked pretty crap too. So whilst calibrated TV's might be accurate,that doesn't always translate to an image that people will enjoy viewing. Hope that explains a few things 🙂
@zombipl

@@TheTechGiantKZitem Thank you for your time and a such detailed answer. I agree with the comparison to out-of-the-box drag race :) People need such benchmarks like you did, because in most of other comparisons other techtubers compare already calibrated TVs and the differences are not as obvious as in your test. In other words: your test shows how usually those panels will look like right out of the store (like you said, most of the people will see them like that), and on other channels you can find how can those TVs look like if you tweak some things. It is a first review I see that shows comparison of those panels in real life conditions without the calibration, and if you watch other channels you can see that you can get a little bit more from them (make them look closer to each other in terms of contrast, and colour accuracy). I hope your channel will grow to the point where you will be able to get a proper equipment to make videos including pre- and post- calibration situation. It would be a great niche for you (live comparing two TVs before and after), because like I said, most of other people who compare panels, only do it after they will max them out in settings. Good calibration hardware is quite expensive, just like ordering professional, who will do it for you, and your comparisons could show if it is really worth it (with Q95T vs CX it looks like it is). Once again, thank you for your time and a great work. Cheers!

@@TheTechGiantKZitem you'll have to be very selective on showing scenes where the tv makes the picture amazing. I haven't got Netflix so I've watched some clips of Top Gun on my LG CX...but the plane scenes still look better on my cousins' and friend's 2013 (or older) Samsung HD tv !?!? What's that about!?!?! But the 8k stuff on KZitem is amazing.

Black crush ruins oled. It destroys the details in the picture. Less info is perceived to the viewer. Oled desperately trying to make every image pop out in an unrealistic way. I'm a gamer and prefer more of a vivid detailed picture as it not only looks better but I can see things better, clearer and quicker especially in those dark scenes on the screen.

QUICK question for the Giant!! If you could only keep one tv between the 90T and CX you have there, which one would you keep? I wanna get one and my room is probably around your brightness but I was told a OLED would be way to dim in a natural lit up room. It’s gonna be used for gaming mostly and some tv watching. Your opinion matters bro to me as you know your stuff.
@TheTechGiantYouTube

Personally I would choose the OLED. It is always my go to TV. But I am hoping the new 2021 models from rivals will give it a run for it's money.

I've got my C9 in a South facing room and it's fine. The brightness I have it on is nowhere near full. You do need to be careful of reflections as it's quite glossy finish. Have mine on a wall 90 degrees to the window and it's fine. Never tried qled. Looks to have a few advantages if you game a lot. Mainly a lower risk of burn in.

@@Panthere.vision if you can make your room dark, I'd go for the OLED. Buy some biased lighting and use that as ambient lighting for your room when watching TV. I had a C9 and now a C1 set up this way same situation as you with the room sometimes bright. When the room is properly darkened, it's an absolutely amazing viewing experience. The higher brightness of the LCD won't do you much good anyways imo, it'll just hurt to look at it.

How many hours do you game? What kind of lighting do you have in your area? I have my gaming PC and my ps5 hooked up to the q90t. God of war on ps5 is breathtaking in HDR on the q90t. I game in a bright room and not just 2, 3 hour "sessions" so getting a CX for me would be a downgrade

@@angelmeza7847 my honest advice is to go to a store and check em out for yourself! KZitem videos are never the best way to best compare them. Especially when you dont have control over the settings. I can make a QLED look like crap as I can make an OLED look like crap as well if I wanted to show which one I liked the most. My q90t doesn't look like this one as my settings are different! (Not saying he's trying to push OLED. He a great guy who makes cool content!) I went to the store and thoroughly checked out both. I game a lot in HDR so peak brightness is something I value as it makes your HDR picture pop with punchy colors. Tv is next to a window. I also don't want to think about burn in everyday. My tv is on all the time lol lots and lots of static images. Feels nice not to have to worry about it. I know YMMV with burn in but the risk is still there. Or else people wouldn't talk about it! TLdr: go to the store and compare em! :) Play with settings if you can. Don't take KZitem comparisons too seriously.
