I have a pair of qtx qx15's and i looked for reviews. Comparisons. Anything and cant find anything other than people having a chat about them. Like this video! The thing with cheaper ones is that you need a comparison. I also have access to my dads yamaha dxr15's so i compared them side by side. Heres what in found - Il start with good points. The plastic they are made from are solid. Not cheap. They are lighter than the yamahas almost twice. You can carry with one hand with ease. They are about 5 inches shorter than the dxr 15s. I played a track of just bass and beats. I filtered out the high eq. Cranked up the bass on the mixer and just tested bass. I turned up aprox half way volume and they are really super loud. Same as the yamahas. I cranked up uncomfortably loud. So if you were standing next to them you would start to flinch a bit. The distortion started to happen where the unit starts to rumble against itself. I tested exact same volume then with the yamahas and the bass response is exactly the same. Same gut punching depth. Same loudness. They both began to distort at exactly the same super loud volume. I was blown away by that. Considering i paid £135 for one qtx qx15 and the yamaha was £500+ second hand. I played a christmas song next. One with high hats. Christmas jingling bells and all of that going on. Cymals. Triangles the lot.. Now here is where the qtx wasnt so great compared to the yamaha. The yamaha has crystal clear high eq top ends. You know like orchestra clarity. Amazing. The qtx sounds muddy on the high pitch top ends to the point where i can clearly hear bells jingling in all their merry detail on the dxr. But on the qtx its almost as if they arent being played. However. I adjusted the eq on the mixer AND on the back of the qtx itself and managed to replicate a really nice well balanced sound. For anyone dancing away in a loud scenario you really would be hard pushed to hear that detail. Sitting next to them you notice. The qtx also when you turn them on and have no audio playing have a very feint white noise sound coming out from them. Not noticable once music is on. Almost like when you play a vinyl record you can hears this background hiss. But once the song is on its gone. When you turn up the volume on qtx the white noise does not get louder. Its just an "on" sound that lingers when all is silent. You cannot notice it once a song is playing even on a low volume. The yamaha dxr15 is silent when on. I found the qtx to be quite the challenger compared to the yamaha. Where the treble is the most noticable difference. But its the price that is the real winner. You could get 4 qtx speakers for the same price as one yamaha dxr 15!! Functionality and common sense will push you towards the qtx here. You would have plenty of backup speakers for the budget you have. That being said. How long will the qtx last? Who knows! But i know their audio and dmx leads are great and well made. I would say these are on par with say a mackie thump. Or something that is basically this speaker but with a more well known brand lable on them. You will be of course paying more for them because of the brand name. The qtx qx15 though. Fantastic. While not quite the studio speaker where vocal clarity and details in synth sounds etc are needed (i dont recommend if you are a synth keyboard player. You would lose that dimension of clarity) However a marquee disco. Or a town hall/pub party. Add a sub to the setup and you dont notice the difference between these and some other brand twice as expensive. If you are in doubt and only stick with one type of brand then just do what you need to do! Its like telling someone ps4 is better than xbox and vise versa. But you wont be able to deny how good these are for the price. You will be chuffed if you own one you would think you had some crazy black friday deal on a quality well known brand speaker. They do the job oh so well and with a really nice e.q balance (crank up the treble as much as you can and bring down the mid range and they will sound loads better). Obviously you dont need to do this much with the yamaha dxr 15. But if it means saving yourself hundreds on other speakers then its good advice. These are not better than yamaha. But they arent cheap knock off or nasty speakers. They function really well im actually surprised. Again. Its the price that is amazing against how well they perform If i had paid £250 odd for one of these id be like meh.. u get what u pay for..they sound good but not premium theyl do.. But because they are around £270 for a pair when you hear them ul say "wtf. Really? This sound for this price??" If someone put a more well known brand label on them you would be paying mackie prices for these. Crazy good for the price

Hi, Both speakers sound really good but if it comes down to power then the best speaker to go for out of the two is the QRC15A as it is the more powerful of the two speakers producing 350 watts RMS which is 150 watts more than the PAJ. I hope this helps and if you have any further questions then please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi Daniel, Thank you for your enquiry, yes these should be fine with a crowd of 200 people. But I would certainy recommend an 18" Sub woofer to give you extra depth of sound to your events, just to let you know these speakers sound really good and produce a really clean sound. Hence they are one of our best sellers. I hope this helps Kind regards Chris

How does it perform regarding deep bass response are they more Hi/Mid range or would you recommend they need to be used along with bass bins
@Retrobution
6 жыл бұрын
6torp3 i recommend even with the best 15s around to get bass bins. Or even just one bass bin depending on venue size. It takes the strain off of the speakers and gives a more full sound overall. Adding a bass bin is like adding a brand new level of sound to experience which no 15 speaker can produce on its own. These sorts of speakers are all rounders. They dont specilise in bass or treble etc they just give bass mid and treble a good effort. Bass bins will add a whole new dimension.

Philip Mc I'm sure you could do it Jack to Jack from your mixer to the line in or xlr to Jack or something (like a microphone cable -xlr to jack) but I'm not sure
