I have many of these items and love them. Instead of that quilt, I got a deal on a hammock gear econo burrow (850 fill, sewn foot box, ground quilt), thermarest neoair xlite. My Bryce paria 1p worked awesome when I winter camped. I have a gripe with my trekology 2.0 pillow - it never stays put even with the pad straps (pad tapers at top, straps pop off). I plan on using self adhesive Velcro dots. Bam. Thx Dan

Is the ground pad as long as your sleeping bag? My biggest issue with most ground pads is the length. Got tired of cold feet cause they would end up off the end of the pad. Ended up sewing my own rubber backed canvas pocket at 7 foot long. Used Mylar bubble wrap as my standard insert and can add in other pads/layers as seasonal weather required. Grippy enough that it doesn’t slide around and gives me plenty of protection in my hammock or tent. I have even stuffed it with pine needles when I didn’t plan appropriately for the trip.

I have and like that Stanley cup ... but yeah it so rediculous how much these theives charge you just to be able to go walk and sleep in the woods.. I'm not rich and never will be so I'm just gonna continue to tough it out like my ancestors did and carry my extremely heavy gear.. if soldiers can carry 100 plus pound ruck sacks with a rifle , pistol ammo and body armor etc. We can handle our Camping gear being a lil too heavy for us. And save money at the same time.

No other clothes down to 30 degrees? No power bank or gps? No chair or sit pad? And I'm sure there's other things I'm not thinking of. A food bag/bear hang. Idk. I hate these gear lists that don't include everything and say 12 lb base weight because it's not comprehensive. It gets you a lot for that price and that weight but it's not everything.
@Fatallydisorganized
2 жыл бұрын
You don’t need a chair. You can either make one using some branches and pars cord or find a log and cut it into a small enough section and use that as a stool. Also if you can use a map and compass you don’t need gps and your phone will still connect to gps even with no signal. The power bank is the only thing missing but everything you mentioned is not needed or you already have access to it.
@natehoover5266

@@Fatallydisorganized you don't need teeth either but it sure makes eating more enjoyable. And Dan uses a chair in his kit so you should tell people what an actual load out looks like. The only reason I think it's so important is because I used these type of videos in my research of buying my gear. I bought things included on these lists and ended up with a way heavier load out then I expected. It was deceiving to a first time backpacker.
