This is part 1 of this series. On resurrecting my vinyl collection about 10 years ago and having tried a few inferior phono preamps, I decided to make my own. This inexpensive Moving Magnet Cartridge design exceeded all my expectations. Modern amplifiers of that period had absolutely no idea what a phono input was, so I used the aux input of my ONKYO. One of the problems I encounter was the aux input level - it expected about 4 x the output signal level of those commercial phono preamps, encouraging me to design my own. With the aid of a Wheatstone Bridge, I needed to buy only 2 costly precision capacitors.
