I very much relate to your position. I've got not problem dropping some coin on a great product, but I also have no desire to pay more for brand name for reason. I've had good first hand experiences with Ozark trial products vs mainstream brands like yeti. I didn't know they made a smokeless pit until seeing your video. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for the video!

I didn't know they made one for the longest time too! Then my local Walmart had a stack of them in the main aisle and I got the idea for the video!

Great review! Do you have any recommendations for cheap alternatives to the JetBoil cooking system, for a fellow self proclaimed cheap bastard? 😂

I picked up a Soto Windmaster stove off Amazon for a little over $60. Soto is a Japanese company and make great gear, though sometimes can be difficult to acquire without importing it. What sets the Soto apart from something like the MSR Pocket Rocket is the integrated windscreen the pot support, which can accommodate larger pots, unlike the MSR. JetBoil is extremely expensive and limits you to using their cookware system. That's a huge negative in my book.

Does Ozark make any other sizes?

Yes they make a mini one! It's the Ozark trails 7in smokeless pit! I actually made this video covering it! kzitem.info/news/bejne/wmurnHacsaBzmWUsi=JbMd3z_4Xr76CAtx

Deck safe?

Most models that say they are deck safe come with an extra stand to give a bit more space. To my knowledge this model is not deck safe without a fire mat down first

It’s a gasifier. No thanks. It’s not the same as a fire pit. I have gasifiers and fire pits. Just not my bag.

What do you not like about gasifiers?
@terryshrives8322

@@Meanderin_Mitch The heat goes straight up pretty much. They are hard to maintain after longer burns. Sometimes you have to let it die down to coals pretty much before adding more wood. That’s after long burns though. Also they aren’t wind friendly. If a good gust of wind goes over the top, it blows them out. A conventional fire pit distributes heat nice and even. You can enjoy a more open and natural feel. Wind isn’t near as much as a problem. It just comes down to personal preference.

@terryshrives8322 That's a fair opinion. For me I do enjoy less smoke of these gasifier. They're not smokeless but far less than a fire pit. The only downsize of the gasifier for me is the heat profile. I have a Solo Stove and the heat shield helps distribute heat better.
