www.redferret.n.... Last week we were invited on board the incredible new Quantum of the Seas cruise liner (sister ship of the Anthem Of The Seas) for a 2 day shake-down excursion around the coastline. And we got to visit the bridge to talk to the captain directly during the journey!
The ship is packed with new technology, from the snazzy kerb side check in with tablet computers, RFID luggage tracking and barcodes, to the floor to ceiling 4K LCD screens which act as virtual balconies, to deliver real time video of the sea views to inner cabins which don't have a real window.
We expected to be wowed, but we didn't expect to be so impressed with the sheer scale of the ship and it's systems, and our first impression of the whole Quantum experience was really good. This is an amazing ship in a large number of ways.
Even when you go beyond the novelty of all the technology on board, there's a ton of innovative features on board to make the cruise experience more hip and modern. This ranges from the freestyle dining, which offers up 18 restaurants with no set dining times, to the ultra cool activity features like the roller skating rink, the skydiving pod and even a full on XBox Live room for multiplayer real time gaming.
This is the second in a 3 part series covering our excursion. You can find the original report here at:
