(29 Jun 2019) Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and Charles, Prince of Wales, attended a ceremony in Edinburgh on Saturday (29 JUNE 2019) to mark the 20th anniversary of the Scottish Parliament.
The Queen addressed the parliament during the ceremony and spoke of her "great affection for Scotland."
Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon thanked the monarch for her presence.
"We will be reminded that however much we may disagree, we are all united by our desire to do our best for the people we serve," Sturgeon said.
The modern Scottish parliament was inaugurated in 1999 under the devolution settlement, after the country voted overwhelmingly in support of a Scottish Parliament being created.
