I **NEVER** tire of hearing the artistry of Queen - 50 years on and NO contemporary band can even come CLOSE to the instrumental proficiency, vocal artistry, and sheer innovation of this song. You may or may not care for the music, but the skill of every single member of the band Queen remains stunning - and always will.

This is such an outstanding composition written by Freddie Mercury. The production is also amazing and the vocals as well as instruments are perfection. It is no surprise why this song is iconic. Thank you for your reaction.

Queen and Freddie have been sending goosebumps through listeners for almost 50 yrs. I spent my 24th birthday in 1981 at the Queen concert in Montreal. They were amazing in every way. Sadly, Freddie also passed on my birthday 10 years later, I light a candle and play Freddie singing, Who Wants to Live Forever every Nov 24. Your ears will be pleased if you react to Somebody to Love from the Montreal concert. I could see the sweat on his brow where we were sitting! lol

1975! The a cappella intro was only lead singer Freddie singing lead and harmonies. The operatic section is three voices recording over 180 harmonies which are multitracked to create the chorus effect. The entire song, vocally & instrumentally, is performed by only four guys known as QUEEN. Check out their live performance in Montreal 1981 of “Somebody to Love”

This is considered the very 1st music video and it was done in 1975! You want to see the legacy of this song you need to check out the Green Day crowd singing Bohemian Rhapsody at the British Summer Time Festival - Hyde Park, London (July 1st, 2017). Green Day loves Queen and they play this song right before they go on stage at their concerts. They loved it so much they filmed it and pinned it to their own Web Page.

@@dalebachman4510 Not arguing - I'm not the one saying this (but the Beatles weren't the 1st either). BUT I'll admit to being surprised this is considered the 1st music video considering all the ones out of the 50s-60s in lieu of performing live. But, there it is.

Street view of Stratford, east London, in 2008. Stratford's Angel Lane filled in for Penny Lane in the Beatles' promo clip. The promotional film for "Penny Lane" was, together with the clip for "Strawberry Fields Forever", one of the first examples of what became known as a music video.[66

Great reaction to one of my favorite bands from the 70's! Thank You for doing such a great reaction video. Other videos you would enjoy are Heart Stairway to Heaven and USA for Africa "We are the World". A compilation of singers from my childhood singing to raise money for Africa who was going through a famine at the time.

That is only one theory though truthfully, nobody knows because Freddie never said, he just left the interpretation up to the listener. This song is comprised of three different songs that Freddie started writing years before even considering putting them together to form a rhapsody, all songs he had started but never finished. The beginning was initially referred to as "The Cowboy Song" which kind of takes away the idea that it is a metaphor for anything more than a young cowboy killing someone. The mid section is a jury or trial and the last part is the escape or release but the outcome really doesn't seem to matter to him one way or the other because he is having to live with the shame and sadness of his actions. Freddie was very much hetero at the time he wrote the three songs that he included in this rhapsody. Of course, it is very possible that things went on during his years at boarding school, Freddie never really elaborated much on that but did make a few comments that seemed a bit suggestive.

Freddie left it to the listener to relate their own story to it and never said what he thought it was about. Any ideas about that come from elsewhere. Weither or not he intended to, it has the same basic narrative structure of the heroes journey; Forced to leave home unexpectedly, goes through a trial, stands definitely and returns home changed from the experience.

Don't over analyses this song, it is a "compilation" of three songs Freddie Mercury had been working on, the first one for nearly ten years by the time of the recording. The only part not written by Freddie was the guitar solo which was written by Brian May. The voices are all real, no such thing as auto-tune back in 1975. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bohemian_Rhapsody The band was made up of: Freddie Mercury. Songwriter, lead vocalist, pianist and studied graphic art and design. Sir Brian May CBE PhD. Songwriter, vocalist, lead guitarist, record producer and astrophysicist. Roger Taylor OBE BSc. Songwriter, vocalist, drummer and has a Bachelor Degree in Biology. He is the one who provided the falsetto (high pitched) vocals. John Deacon. Songwriter, occasional vocalist, bass guitarist and electronics engineer, now retired. Brian May is seen using his "home made" guitar called the "Red Special" and a "Deacy Amp" an amplifier designed and built by John Deacon.
