I'm so glad you've decided to still react to Queen, despite the ones who complain about it. What the hell is their problem anyway? You should react to what you feel like discovering and what you've come to love. After all, it's YOUR musical journey, man....we're just here spectating. lol I personally want to thank you for allowing me to take a peek. :) I so totally agree, too....it's like Queen is one of those bands whose songs can always either switch up or enhance your mood when needed. If I'm feeling down, I listen to one of their upbeat songs and instantly feel better. If I need to slow myself down and chill, I can listen to something of theirs that is not so upbeat and it tames the wild beast inside me. And if I'm down and just need time to allow myself to feel it, cry or scream and get it all out, their angry or darker tunes help me exorcise the demon. Man, they're so diverse, there are several songs for every mood, for every minute of every day. I'm glad you discovered them and feel like discovering more.

I got a little funfact right here. The band was actually first scared to shoot on a driving train and thought that it may would be too dangerous but the video producer wanted them to do it soo freakin badly because he was so amazed by this idea that he made a test ride a couple days before filming by himself to prove them wrong and show them there’s nothing dangerous at all, had an accident in which he broke his nose and bit through his lip but still wanted them to do it and so just told them he had a car accident in which he flew through his car‘s front window :D

My favorite part of the song/video is when they go through the tunnel around 4:02 and then you hear some legendary bass playing from John along with some great drumming from Roger which then segues into Brian's amazing solo, and then followed by Freddie doing pull ups while singing the chorus...

"Breakthru" is two songs joined together. The slow vocal harmony during the first half minute was originally "A New Life Is Born," an unreleased song written by Freddie Mercury. The remainder of the song is "Breakthru," written by Roger Taylor with some contributions from the rest of the band. You are talking about hits? Queen recorded 15 albums (not including greatest hits, platinum, etc.). There are many more hits to come.

Thankyou, JB. I’m loving being a passenger on your Queen journey. Can I offer some advice? Don’t be too quick to get to the Made in Heaven album. Save it up. The longer you leave it, the more of Queen’s music you’ve heard, the richer and deeper will be your experience of Made in Heaven. I recommend a good wallow in early Queen, and can’t wait to see you hear for the first time: Lap of the Gods ‘39, both Freddie’s live and Brian’s studio versions. Tie Your Mother Down, altho I think you love the emotional songs more than the rockers. The sublime Its Late. There’s a subculture of Queendom that rates it as Queen’s best song. PLEASE do It’s Late soon. All God’s People, from Innuendo, is transcendent. I think you’ll love All God’s People, JB. It’s your kinda song - bringing people together, as you rightly say. Winter’s Tale deserves an essay all to itself, but it’s on Made in Heaven, so don’t go there yet. It’s a journey . Take your time. I’m looking forward to seeing the look on your face when you hear Bring back Leroy Brown and Lazing in a Sunday afternoon.🤣

The reason that Queens songs all sound like hits, though they were not (all) hits. Is due to the musical integrity that was infused into their music, and the music of many other artists from that era. They were just as much, if not more concerned about the Musical integrity of the song. Would it stand up in 20 years?, or 30 years on it's own and be recognized? Does it have a melody , and power that will have people humming the tune as they drive to work. PoP culture today is so infatuated with becoming a star , and filling the void in their Egos with the adoration of the multitudes of easy targets on You tube, who will give a million likes to any slob with a dime store voice, as long as they act the star and preach mindless , vacant, empty lyrics to equally shallow fans . Its all about being a star , feeling the excitement, watching the beautiful , auto-tuned singers who enable mediocrity , and legarthism in music. The integrity is gone from music today. NO ONE will be humming a Bieber or Cyrus song in fifty years. But even today 40 , 50 years later...we still hum Aretha, and Freddy, and other greats who wrote masterpieces, not just hits !

Freddie had a degree in graphic design arts and played piano and guitar and usually sang lead . Sir Roger Taylor on drums was an accredited Dentist and played piano and guitar too. John Deacon was an electrical engineer, he played bass guitar and the upright bass and piano and he designed and built the Deaky Amps the band used and he patented. Sir Dr. Brian May Phd is a published astrophysicist and plays leading guitar, piano, harp and even some drums. Brian and Roger occasionally sing lead and provide backing vocals. Deaky didn’t sing often he was never very confident about his own voice.

philosophicalreason - I have a list of all songs written/recorded by Queen. Mercury wrote about 50. The other group members wrote over EIGHTY songs without Freddie. Together as a group they wrote even more. You are wrong by a lot. Here are just a few- John Deacon - Misfire, One year of love, Friends will be friends, Spread your wings, I want to break free, You're my best friend, Who needs you, Another one bites the dust, If you can't beat them, Backchat. Also the amazing bass line that became Under Pressure. Brian May - All dead, Tie your mother down, Brighton Rock, Fat bottom girls, Flash, The hero, Kurgan's theme, Hammer to fall, Father to son, I want it all, Keep yourself alive, Let me in your heart again, Now I'm here, No one but you, Save me, 39, We will rock you. Roger Taylor - Sheer heart attack, Tenement funster, These are the days of our lives, Drowse, Heaven for everyone, Calling all girls, I'm in love with my car, A kind of magic, One vision, Radio ga ga.
