My partner and I were watching your video and she said, 'Wasn't that you that commented on her bars being too long?' and then later commented and said, 'omg there's two of you!' 🤣 That said, being that she 5'0" I have her bars cut down to 730mm and have her control adjusted accordingly. She has small hands so I have smaller diameter, comfy grips installed. I've adjusted her brake levers closer to the bars and moved all the controls outwards so she's uses the whole length of her bars now 😉Reducing the stem length may or may not help depending on the bike's reach. To be honest, the biggest issue with shorter riders is the ability to put their feet flat on the ground. It something that we all take for granted, but would we buy a bike where we straddle the top tube and balanced on our tippy toes when stopped? Although in my head it wasn't the popular solution, running shorter cranks and a 27.5/26 mullet configuration was the solution. I mean the Big Hit and Brodie Devo were both very popular back in the day and they were running a 26/24 mullet config. Even my 6'3" friend rode one for years without complaint. That said, she loves this setup now as her confidence has gone through the roof being able to put her feet flat on the ground in emergency situations/climbs and when coming to a stop. The dropper learning curve took a little work, but she's got that worked out now. I picked up a shorter dropper that could be completely slammed into the seat tube for clearance. The key was getting a 37mm offset 27.5 fork for the transformation. She also gained travel since the 27.5" fork is shorter(a2c) than a 29" fork of equal travel. No pedal strikes either 👌 As I'm sure you know, patience is the key... for both parties 🙃 Cheers to you and Jacqueline and your new adventures together! 💜

Yes this bike even at XS is still technically too large. She struggles to get going when stopped. I did struggle to find a suitable bike and this was what was available at the time. I think it is a cool little bike and she loves it. My style of mountain biking will never be her thing but it is great to explore the out doors together. Tomorrow we do the Dunstan trail.

@@bestdayevermtb2 Yeah it's definitely a tough go finding a well fitting emtb for a ~5'0" tall rider. My partner felt the same way regarding my passion versus her lack there of, but getting her bike sorted has made a big difference. To be honest, your vids are the only (e)mtb vids that my partner enjoys watching with me 🙂 Looking forward to seeing more of your future adventures and appreciate you sharing them with us all 🍻

Did I actually hear you say you shortened the bars all on one side ,I have to assume I am misunderstanding this as obviously the bars have a centre point for clamping and generally can't be moved much past this centre point either way because of the diameter change which would lead to one side being longer than the other from the stem which would be terrible to ride.Bars need to be trimmed equally on each side to maintain riding alignment. Entertaining video have to assume I am wrong in my assumptions

Awesome video Lance and Jacqueline really enjoyed it. Those views were amazing really well worth the climbing up those horrible hills. Hey quick question have you shown her where her turbo is on her bike it may help her out when climbing next time and maybe even more enjoyable for her. Make every thing easier for the Lady happy wife and happy husband. Always looking forward to seeing you both on the next adventure 😊

She knows about turbo and used it on this ride. Power was never the problem. Infact in the video she got up one that was really steep and overtook me. The reason was it was grass and smooth. She couldn't get up the hills because she lacked the skills/ confidence on the loose surfaces.

By wtaching parts that she had ridden I could see there were bits that she coud have ridden in the first part of the morning but she was so over you and your ride she was just getting off and pushing. Beer and Chips does put a smile on the dial though
