It’s Freddie’s voice that gives Queen that uniqueness you mentioned. There will not be another in our lifetime. His singing voice and showmanship comes only once in a lifetime, if you’re lucky.

The late George Michael covered this song in front of Princess Diana among others at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert and what’s also sad is that George had just found out backstage that the love of his life had contracted HIV, George knew it was a life sentence, and he still had to go onstage and perform. His performance of this song was the highlight of the concert.

Happy belated birthday! And I'm glad you took some time off for yourself. Now watch BoRhap. It's time well spent. I agree with others that now you need to react to this same song live Montreal '81. But it's not an "either or"...not "you should've done it instead". It's really worth doing both. This studio version is gorgeous & it's good to see them in the studio so I'm glad you did it. And the live version simply knocks your socks off. You feel a bit of the energy that was Queen live. They're both great. Looking forward to any & all Queen you might do. Also looking forward to hearing what you thought of the movie!💙

Much of the Queen sound comes from the MANY many layers they did in the studio. If you can find the "Making of" video for their album "A Night At The Opera" - you can see how they did some of these techniques to develop that Queen sound. A good example I can give is that for "Bohemian Rhapsody," the opening harmony vocals were all actually Freddy - but all 4 of them were depicted as doing the vocals in the official video.

Ok so the Queen sound. Obviously Freddie's voice. But Brian built his guitar with his dad, as a teen, its a unique sound. John (the basist) build what they called the decay amp, that makes the Guitar have a unique sound at times too. Rogers voice (and drums) make it too. Its a unique band, like the Beatles

Great reaction! Interestingly Somebody To Love was Freddie's favourite song. He loved Aretha Franklin and wanted to create something that showed her style and he did it. Even though Freddie never revealed what his songs were about there was always a lot of prsonal stuff involved in one way or other. About his stage clothes, well he definitely could wear anything without looking ridiculous, he pulled it off. Back then people were quite taken aback, but I never thought it was THAT outrages. And it was meant as tongue in cheek, he wasn't afraid to make fun of himself. All in all a brilliant musician with an unmatched voice and a quite unique, witty and kind human being.

As Freddy was a gay man looking for somebody to love, this song is both epic and sad. His last song, "Who wants to live forever" if you understand this song ..... best and saddest song ever.

Freddie's last song wasn't Who Wants To Live Forever.....it was a song called Mother Love from the Made In Heaven album....it was the last vocals he ever did and he was so weak, he couldn't finish the song....Brian May had to sing the last verse sometime after Freddie died
@rebelpearl

“Who Wants to Live Forever” was written by Brian May for the film “Highlander” where it was used as the live song for the film. Brian and Freddie share the vocals. The song is both beautiful and sad. It’s about an immortal man who loved a mortal woman. She dies, he lived on but still loves her.
