The Miners came from a tough battle the previous week and at the request of their opponents agreed to a trail 11v 11 format. The two sides had never previously met and so it was a trip into the unknown for Dodworth. A strong start from the Miners culminated in team captain, Jack Cooper going over for the first try of the game. This was quickly followed by a slick move which was finished off by a try from scrum half Jacob Wood. Dodworth continued to dominate and following an attempted chip and chase from Queensbury, right centre Vinnie French collected the ball and ran through unopposed to score try no 3. Miners made changes to Line up but maintained the upper hand. A good attacking set was finished by quick hands from stand off, Joey Sykes which allowed centre, Mikey Porto-Eaden to run in try no4. the half culminated with French collecting another loose ball and running in a full length of field try . The start of second half saw Dodworth returning to their starting eleven which resulted in Cooper finishing off the first set of the half, breaking through several tackles on his way. Try no 7 was the result of a superbly placed cross fiel kick by hooker Finn Brundred, collected and run In unopposed by Woods. As Queensbury tired, Dodworth pushed on and following a retrieval and good footwork, full back Corrie Hallas added try no8. Further tries from Sykes and Charlie Talent moved the score on before the best move of the game was finished off by man of match Alfie Powers who touched down for Dodworth’s and the games 11th and final try. . A good all round performance from the whole squad which nilled their opponents and earned praise from opposing coaches and parents.
