This is the most Tarantino interview I've ever seen.

I like it 'cause its when he was super humble. He almost became a parody of himself especially with the tarantino 'universe'. Back then no one knew every movie he would make would have that same Reservoir Dogs feel.

Damn... Quentin Tarantino had tunnel vision back then. He didn't even notice that topless chick. Goes to show why he became so successful. Truly evidence that Your craft and purpose is what matters most at the end of the day.

Tarantino is my favorite director of all time. His films changed my life in middle school. That being said I really love these old interviews with him when he was less pretentious and just a film geek. But after years of making great films can I blame him? Hell no. Just fun to see his younger interviews.

@@Carlos-ln8fd this is true but it's just funny that it seems like he was purposely avoiding mentioning it here. He didn't even mention Hong Kong cinema which was a clear influence. @@maxmonas7131 It was easy to do that in the 90s. Tarantino could watch a hong kong film and copy it and 99% of Americans would never know.

@@maxmonas7131 Why would he act as his own enemy when pretty much nobody saw City on Fire in the West, feeding the press with weapons against himself? He could've been asked about it then, but nobody did. He admits it now that the iron is freezing cold and nobody cares. These are different movies, one is one of many crime action dramas, the other is a pop culture legend. But back then he was just trying to launch his career, nothing was certain and he needed good press.

I read an article about an interview of Tarantino and Koppelman in which Tarantino discloses that he vowed as a grade-school boy never to help his mother financially (like buy her a house, car, etc.) because she never supported his writing career and gave him grief about his grades. He pathetically sounded proud that he kept to his vow except helping her once with the IRS . What a piece of work. Here we have a teen, single Mom doing her best to raise a kid and only does what she knows is best (make sure he does well in school so he can go to college and make a way for himself in life). All of these years later Tarantino is still trash talking his mother. Grow up. Build a freakin bridge already and get over it! Talk about holding a grudge WOW.

He does come across as very mature at this time. By the time he makes Jackie Brown, you’d think the rest of his films will be complex psychological stories, but I think the success of Kill Bill got to him.
