Silliness aside, Roddenberry himself once said that Star Trek wasn't a space story, it was a story about people that happened to be in space. If Tarantino is good at anything, it's conflict among opposing parties. Slap a space backdrop on that, and you've got his Star Trek.

But what Tarantino is absolute shit at, is telling positive, hopeful stories...which is what Star Trek was. Trek REALLY doesn't need more violence, gore and psychopaths. This pairing is one of the most idiotic ideas ever to come out of Hollywood.

I have basically quit watching almost all TV and movies because everyone seems to think that the more uncomfortable and angry the conflict, the better. Tarantino is great because he can write conflict that isn't constantly exploding in your face, but is always moving. And his dialog is pretentious without feeling pretentious. It's perfect.

@imfsresidentotaku9699

Calling something "outdated" is a purely detracting and superficial way of pointing out how it represents the era in which it was made, a factor which should never be considered an imperfection. Imagine making a show in 1966 just to call it "outdated" over 50 years later. You're essentially saying it's too indicative of its time period to be any good, which is kooky talk. And no, 60s Star Trek is not "outdated," but deliciously 60s. To this day, it remains one of the most iconic, influential, and important TV shows of all time. Star Trek may be "cheesy" to a certain extent, but not any moreso than other shows of the time. And for some people, the so-called "cheesiness" is what makes the show so entertaining to watch. I for one enjoy the tongue-in-cheek humor and colorful production design. Besides, whatever "cheesiness" is present in the original Star Trek is purely superficial. The show takes itself pretty seriously, while occasionally finding time to joke around. It can be completely ridiculous without being self-aware. It delivers strong performances, intriguing plots, exciting action scenes, and moral quandaries which continue to be relevant to the present day. Not to mention, saying that Matt Caron "made it uber cool" doesn't hold a lot of water, considering that the show was already pretty cool.
