Thank you! I have a similar setup with a 3090 and was not happy with the performance at all. Low settings and 44 FPS. Followed your instructions to the 'T' and now I am almost on full ultra with a much more steady 40 FPS. Only difference is that I am using the Oculus Link (Cable). That Oculus Tray does God's work! A lot of people have had luck just getting a 5ghz USB wifi stick and using their desktop PC as the wireless router by turning on mobile hotspot in Windows. Then you have a small isolated network that only the headset is using for a reasonably cheap price.

Cheers Stevo! On my system, i9 10850/RTX3080/32gb ram, Quest 2, I find ASW (in any mode) to be just too ‘wobbly’... makes feel a bit sick. If I disable ASW I can get some micro stutters when things get graphic heavy, but generally find it more fun and smooth without the jellies (ASW) thanks for the video 👍

Great! Thanks. Very useful. I too have had good experience with airlink, but I may stay on cable only for the battery life! One thing I noticed, I'm fairly sure that for air or cable the encode width is now best also at default. I had read this was set automatically based on bit rate. Not sure if it makes any difference so prob no harm either way. 👍

Hi Steve, I've tried your settings, oculus tray tool, debug tool, airlink and the link cable and MSFS 2020 just will not run smoothly for me, even at low settings. So, I thought, I paid for Virtual Desktop sometime ago, lets give that ago, got a dedicated TP Link ac50 1200 router set as an access point with the 5ghz only switched on. Not only does the Quest 2 connect quickly to VD with a speed of 866mhz it plays MSFS 2020 on high vr settings pretty smoothly, game changer for me.
@yornav

I really dislike the FOV multiplier setting. 0.7 gives me the feeling of looking through a box. Actually I get still far better results with VD than with Airlink. So for now I'll stick to that. But I expect Airlink to get better over time, so I'll keep trying it out with each new update.

Thanks for this video, much appreciated. With regards to Q2 and G2 and flight sims, I'd have to disagree with you. I've used both headsets for DCS. I prefer the Quest 2. It's simpler to use and the sweet spot size is far superior to the G2 albeit with a slight degradation in visual quality. With the G2 you have to move your head about a lot more to centralise the sweet spot on what you're looking at, I find this is an immersion breaker. The drop off of clarity towards the edge of the lenses is pretty big, where as the Quest 2 is pretty much clear to the edge!
@GregWoodsLancs
3 жыл бұрын
I agree, that overall, for me too, the image quality of Q2 is much better than the G2, due to the larger sweet-spot. Using it in MSFS though is truly horrible on my lower end PC (1660Super), whereas the G2 works nicely

I can't even get MSFS to recognise my Quest 2 anymore. I can hear the audio playing (Both with wired link and airlink) but the moment I press the VR shortcut it just gives me a "VR headset not found" message. For me the "in vr" bitrate settings are completely irrelevant. Even when bitrate is set to 0 in ODT, switch between dinamic or fixed with any given value on the "in vr" settings, makes absolutely no difference and gives me a super ugly and compressed image. So what i ended up doing is actually setting bitrate in ODT. So when the bitrate is set on ODT, whatever is set in the "in vr" bitrate settings, is discarted. this gave me the best image quality. currently using 150mbps
@MR_1989

For reference, im running a 3080, and mi OTT settings are: 1.7ss, 0.80-0.80 H and V FOV, ASW OFF, and bitrate to 150. Just to be clear, its EXACTLY the same setting all this in the ODT vs the OTT. I believe the OTT was created just as an extension for those who dont actually want to go in the oculos folder... but i digress. In game, similar settings to sim guy but render to 80%. Back to my results: i Fly a320 with FBW, out of KDFW which is a super intense airport, with 30-35 fps, all my instruments readable. when flying GA, 40-45 fps (no glass displays). So yeah. maybe i will try 100% render and ss to 1.3 to test FPS and instrument readability and report back. for now this area the best settings for me.
