So beautiful!! And you are so thorough for us newbies! We truly need it. Thank you Wendy. Be careful with that bamboo. It really does take over. My ex decided to plant it also as privacy fence also for our pool and it took over everything. He had it around the house also, and it got underneath our house. It actually can wrap around your piping. It actually came right up through the driveway and cracked the driveway. It is very invasive. It will go right through those potters that you have it in, if it takes off. It is pretty, but it grows like wildfire.💜

As an advanced beader I can say that I'm always looking for inspiration and new ideas. As most of us who've been doing this for a while, we have the techniques down, but the example you make gives me, for certain, and probably a lot of others, lots of ideas how to modify your idea and make it our own. That's priceless in my book. Thanks for putting yourself out there. As to those Xuron cutters, I think their strength lies in the strength of their sharp little tips. But also remember that if you're cutting something that doesn't require the precision tip, cut further back on the blades, nearer to the jaw. If it's not a precision tight-space cut, then use the back end of the blades (which has to do with the strength of the fulcrum or something I think, but don't hold me to that). Does that make sense? Just like if you're cutting something heavy with a pair of scissors, you wouldn't just use the tip, you'd cram that sucker as far up into the jaw of the scissors as possible. What I know about physics wouldn't fill a thimble, so this is one of those things that I just accept as a fact without all the fine details as to why it works. As to the bamboo, yes it is incredibly invasive, grows incredibly fast, and will grow well beyond where you want it to, so containing its ability to spread is crucial. But yes, it does also make a very efficient and beautiful screen. The best way to get a cutting (a stalk with no roots) to take hold is to cut it just below a node (those ridges across the stem) then planting it a few inches deep. A shorter cutting will take root much faster than a really tall one, as the taller plant is putting its energy into keeping its body alive at the expense of growing roots. Shorter cuttings will actually grow taller faster than a taller cutting (really, you can hear it growing -- no kidding, in the right conditions it can grow 3 FEET PER DAY -- though, of course, this refers to an already rooted-in plant). I was a horticulture major in my former life, so I'm not just blowing hot air. Also, this is not the optimum time of year to be planting bamboo cuttings outside, as they prefer the soil to be warmer when forming/growing roots, like most grasses (yes, it's a grass -- freaky, right?). You might be more successful growing the cuttings in large pots, keeping them "warmish" in the winter, like even in an unheated garage, if they'll get some natural light (or a greenhouse if you're lucky enough to have one), or a sunny window in your house. Okay, lessons over. These earrings are truly beautiful. I love your combination of crystals and chains, and those chandelier findings are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing!
