I took a resin course last year and the art teacher posted me my art with all the dirt of the mess of the resin paint behind.. believe it or not.. now this is a nice tip on how to clean the back of your board. Tks for sharing your knowledge. I love this one so much

This idea was to give a solution to avoid the colours running into each other. Resin doesn’t stick to silicone, so is good to use to create freeform shapes.

This is really interesting. Glad I found your video. I watched a video where someone had used this epoxy material for creating the lines. Can't recall what it is called but it is like a rubber that dries hard. Instead of using the epoxy material I thought I would try using the glue gun just like you do. I find it is the best method for making geodes. :)

ever considered implementing EL wires and fiber optics? I love color changing effects but since EL wires are of solid colors I came up with this idea. Pull black heat shrink tubing over el wires alternatively. Let's say 12" over red, then no tubing, then 12" over blue, ETC. Then twist EL wires and glue them together. Now when EL wires are hooked up to separate controllers in the slow on of mode what will happen that different colors will show up in areas where the tubing is present and a mix of colors will show in areas without any tubes. I wonder if I made myself clear. It is clear in my head but probably confusing for others :-)

Very well done video! I have a couple of questions for you, but, let me say first of all that I am a "newby" I have a large sheet of safety glass about 20" by 50 ". I have been thinking about doing something similar to your process, but, using the safety glass instead. My thoughts was to break the safety glass with a hammer and then separate it into containers and try to dye it. If it will take the dye it would give me a lot of broken colored glass to do something similar to your process. My question is do you have a suggestion as to whether the glass will take dye and what kind of dye and where do I get it?? Thanks!!
@SueFindlay
4 жыл бұрын
My first thoughts are that the safety glass will be sharp when broken and can cause issues when cleaning the art. To avoid this, you will have to make sure your glass is submerged in resin, which can cause it to 'disappear'. I normally use shop bought glass, as it doesn't tend to have sharp edges. You can colour glass with inks and dyes, I am not an expert at this and usually, add the inks to the resin and then mix it in with the glass. I use a stick to fully coat the glass. You can use any inks or dyes (from what I have been told). Good luck with your project. 💕

Oh please don't use hot glue to hold that beautiful thing. I was going to hang some wonderful old plates & was told to use E6000 glue instead. I'm so glad I did. I used hot glue for some beautiful lapis blue fish plates and they fell off the Wall, they were only plastic. I knew then they would not have held my ceramic plates. You can get it at the Dollar store or order it online. Walmart has it too. I believe if I put some on my shirt and threw myself against the wall, I would stick there forever. Your object is wonderful 💕🌿

Can silicon from a tube be used for higher borders? If epoxy is poured in layers then crystals wouldn't sink and also crossing different color epoxy layers can produce an interesting effect as well IMHO
@SueFindlay
5 жыл бұрын
Silicone can be used to create freeform shape geodes as it is easy to remove due to it not sticking to resin. For that reason, I don’t think it work well between layers of resin.

Hi Sue. I'm a new subscriber and LOVE this video. I have resin that I need to use before it yellows but have been quite intimidated with the process. Seeing your video has sparked my courage!!! THANK YOU 💕! I was wondering as I watched this video if this would with on stretched canvas.
@SueFindlay
6 жыл бұрын
I am delighted that this video has given you some inspiration to get creative. I would not recommend using a stretched canvas, as the weight of the resin and stones will cause it to sag in the middle. I suggest using a board, it can be a wooden place mat, just like in the video.
