This is pretty, and a great gift idea, but you typically want to store wine with the cork angles down so the wine keeps the cork moist. Otherwise the cork dries out, shrinks, and the wine goes bad

if you got a 1 x 6 board and used a holesaw ( the size of the wine bottle diameter) down the middle of the board where you marked the curves to be - you could then just drill out the holes , cut the board into half so you end up with 2 1x3 pieces and then you have 2 frontt boards to lie your wine down on - would save having to jigsaw out the curves that way???

What a lovely idea. That one bottle with the initials CS on it is my initials. So that means thats my gift for Christmas from you. Thank you so much for making me that lovely wine bottle holder & those wines....... lol.... I'm sorry, but I really don't like wine. It was a lovely thought. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for sharing that awesome video & plans with us. You are a very giving lady & family. A true Alaskan jack of all trades. If we only had a couple more billion lovely people in the world. It would be a nicer world out there in the streets we call earth. But it is what it is for a reason only God knows. Thank you again & Merry Christmas/Happy Hollidays, (whichever one calls it. I'm trying to walk the fence here & not offend anyone) best regards, Chris from Missouri

Anna, that is beaitiful. Just one adjustment you should make with the storage function. The way you have it situated may allow corks to become dry and cause the wine to spoil. Idealy tjey shoukd be stored level or with the neck just a touch lower then level. Love your channel

I love this, is a great gift idea, but just a little observation, i think it would be a good idea to put maybe a 1/4 plywood piece at the bottom of the box, specially if if going to move the box somewhere else the way is set with the grapes and cheese on top.

Great project for the bottles but it would be better if in the bottom where the bottles lay to put a board just incase they lift it and the bottles won't fall. Keep up the great work

If you're going to be storing wine for a long time you want it tipped toward the cork. If you buy and drink your wine fairly regularly you can store them however you want. :)

FYI ...You can use a 1x6 and cut out a full circle with a Hole saw then rip the board down the middle and have two 1x3s each with half circles

So do you put the poly or butcher's block finish instead of the varthane stain on top or after you apply the varathane stain? Sorry I am new to woodworking
@AnaWhiteDIY
4 жыл бұрын
If you want to use the top for cutting into like a cutting board, only use butcher block sealer on the bare wood, as small pieces of wood may end up in the food when cutting If you want to use the top for serving (not cutting with a sharp knife, I would think a cheese knife is ok) then use any stain you like, but add a couple coats of poly to the top surface to seal the stain in the wood.

There should be a hole saw in the size for the semi - circle cut outs. You know some child will try to move it when there is no bottom, shouldn't there be some kind of bottom? If you were going to stack and screw them together only the bottom rack would need to be covered.
