Excellent tip. For those who might be cautious of the plastic leaching into the food, consider oven-safe food bags, which are commonly used for roasting chicken or turkey and keeping the pans clean. They also make smaller ones for crock pot liners.

Great method for making any of the Knorrs meals, heating oatmeal (just add water in bag also) and Mac & Cheese. I saw a hiker that made a koozy, out of an old reflectics car windshield shade and gorilla tape, that he then put the bag in so he could hold it while he at. Great way to keep clean-up to a minimum heat and sterilize water and be ready for coffee or tea with meal. Love it.

This reminds me of the time i was living part time in my old 1970 VW van for a hot meal on the go I would get those Lunch Bucket Meals that came in a little plastic microwaveable cup about the size of a large coffee cup with a pop top lid and put them in a little comb 12volt/120volt perkulater type coffee maker they would just fit with it half full of water . make coffee or coco for my kids back then when they were riding with me and could feed them on the go too

I like this idea as you get boiled water and clean pots, and you can heat a variety of food that way. However I’d have just put the can of chilli over/ close to the stove/ fire. I’d pierce a hole in the top of it to put a very wet stick through. For holding it over the flame aswell as moving it once it’s hot. Yours is a better way but I’m almost guaranteed to forget the bags 😂

@adamstelten6743
2 жыл бұрын
It will. The softer the plastic the more plastic softeners (phalates) used to create it; phalates mimic estrogen. As long as your not cooking like this often you shouldn’t notice any voice changes or Man boobs appearing ;). Watch the documentary ‘Plastic Planet’. Since seeing that documentary, I’ve avoided consuming or using plastic for any food storage.

I know this is an old post, but what about just taking the label off the can, and boiling the water around the open can with the lid off of it? Either way can liners or bags are going to leach BPA and other chemicals into the food, but it seems like you could save a step and a bag. I haven't tried personally, just curious if you have.
