couldn't agree more. It's all back to spreading awareness on UBI/ floor economy on a national level now. Talking of UBI as a potential weapon against crime should also be on Yang's agenda. (crime was significantly reduced among UBI-pilot participants, -40% or so...). And maybe he should take time to also travel other countries (Europe, Asia) with his book translated in their languages. Strengthen politicians in favour of UBI across the world, exchange ideas etc. etc. Because this is not only a USA topic, i can tell you as a long time international YangGang spectator. Compare the results of the primary to a map of NYC’s ethnic neighborhoods/racial composition. It’s pretty clear that people tend to vote for people who are the ‘same’ as them. Yang - Flushing and west Brooklyn, Adams - Bronx, Queens, and east Brooklyn, Garcia - Manhattan and Staten Island, etc.

Yang's ideas -- especially on helping the economy serve the people, instead of the other way around -- continue to be significantly meaningful and inspiring to millions of everyday people nationally (and even internationally). We aren't in NY, but gave small donations to his campaign. We had some reservations about his running for mayor of NYC, for though that journey could potentially amplify and demonstrate *how* his policies could serve community, it seemed that mayoral campaign would have 'detoured him' from the national effort. Now that that campaign is over, he and team deserve some rest and regrouping. 😊 And if they choose to, move forward with helping to broaden and deepen the national conversations on those ideas and proposals that really resonate with everyday people across the nation. 🍀🌻🖖🏾

I understand the need to change Yang's persona from the point of view of bringing in new demographics, but unfortunately all that did was to take away the support of OG yang gang instead of bringing in new folks. Yang's unusual and uncharacteristic refusal to educate himself on the israel situation is an example of that behavior. Him sticking to his talking points despite going on to krystal kyle podcast and getting embarrased with his lack of knowledge on the subject is further proof. The previous Yang would have listened to new data and tried to find humanity on both sides of the argument but he didn't, and the OG yang followers saw through this BS. Anyway, lessons learnt, we go again next time.

I still believe in Andrew. I still believe that an exceptionally capable person who cares and who will work diligently to apply their gifts on the behalf of all the people is an immeasurably better choice for all the people than cookie-cutter corporate "professional politicians" in any election. And I agree that the changes in the context were a strong factor in the election. But I think that Andrew needs to understand that he lost the race over the Palestinian issue. His lack of applying the basic principles inherent to his public embrace of humanity forward, and the cagey, "politically" careful way he tried to do damage control over his terrible tweet is where he lost the respect of a powerful group of voters. To be a viable candidate in the future, because this will be an issue that is raised again and again, Andrew needs to 1) actually do some work to research the issue, find the truth, and reflect on it. And 2) explain his errors, come clean about what factors took him away from having a genuine response to Palestinian plight, and 3) promise that he will not make this mistake again, to the best of his ability. To be clear, the mistake I refer to here is not the specific stance on the terrible treatment of Gaza by Israel. The mistake is in being willing to be misguided into not deciding truly for himself where he should take a stand - whether or not it means he will win a given election. Its about his integrity. The most powerful thing Andrew has as a candidate is that people believe he will do what he really feels is the right thing to do to solve the problems that face us. The flop with the tweet was survivable, IF he had come back from it after going through a process of awakening where he really educated himself about the issue, apologized, and showed he was willing to speak truth to the power of "Pro-Israel no matter what the issue" voters. He didn't do that, and he lost credibility in the eyes of many voters. He needs to do that or he will remain marginalized and continue to be vulnerable in the future. The bright side of this is that he can still do this. The loss gives him a reasonable timeframe and impetus for reflection. One where people will want to see for a short window, what he has learned from the experience. If his reaction to the loss is real, and reflective, I do think he can recapture the trust of many of the voters he lost. This is about the big picture here. I really want him to be the candidate in 2024. But when you run as a real person, you have to learn to avoid taking party line stances on things - or you are not proving that you are a real person. I empathize with Andrew because I grew up without real knowledge of what Israel was doing to the Palestinian people - as just one of many issues I had no real knowledge about, given the serious flaws we have in our education system. It took a long time for me to realize the biases inherent in media sources and how powerful special interests are behind so many of these biases. I'm pretty sure that this is one area that Andrew, like me, had a blind spot with. There may be others. But what is more important than having a blind spot is what you do when you realize that you have one. I really want to see Andrew embrace his humanity forward principles and apply them - I think that is what is most empowering about him and his approach. I wish him some time with his wonderful family now to recharge, heal, renew. And I truly hope he wants to continue with his goals of public service. Because we all still need him very very much. Peace. Keep the faith! JW

UBI, like Medicare for all needs to be done on a federal scale because states can’t deficit spend so it was hard to see how to “pay for” his Limited UBI plan. Yang needs to embrace and popularize MMT (interview Stephanie kelton on your podcast! She wrote “The Deficit Myth) like he did with UBI and show how new dollars can stimulate the economy just like the stimulus checks were newly created. $ and not “paid for”! Biden is making a huge mistake in trying to now pay for the infrastructure bill and as a result we may wind up with much slower growth like happened with Obama’s anemic recovery and the republicans can blame the weak economy on the democrats.

Here are why Yang lost. 1. Israeli Palestine comment. Public opinion on Israel vs Palestine has gone against Israel and it is now politicaly toxic to be pro Israel in a Democratic primary now when just a couple years ago it would have been the opposite. 2. Praising Katheryn Garcia. Never ever praise your political opponent when you are running against them. 3. Yang spent much of the pandemic away from NYC which is not okay. 4. Yang has offered lots of big spending programs and while many of these policies were popular voters were skeptical on how to pay for these policies. It was the same with Bernie Sanders during the 2016 and 2020 primaries and Yang during his 2020 policies. Yang had the race in the bag and was the frontrunner but I think a series of gaffes as well his decesion to leave NYC during the pandemic ultimatly costed him

@@wandrade07 I think he was thinking too much like a normal person that you CAN change your position as situation calls for it but he doesn't realize that people see him as a brand. A brand that has a set traits that he must adhere to. It's like Bernie suddenly speaking that he's pro-capitalism (even though if it makes sense for the period or circumstance). Bernie would never say that because he knows his brand is not pro-capitalism. If you change your tunes suddenly to meet the circumstances of the time or the subject at hand, you'll come across as a flip flopper & pandering and inconsistent to low information voters. I do think if Yang wants to truly win at American politics, he needs to stick to his brand and never stray too far from it going forward.
