The area of coverage and the double sided latch allow for the strength to be comparable to the tiles fracture rating and the adhesives lbs to lbs pressure rating. So yeah it’s going to do the job and hold what it has to hold. If anything heavy enough to break the tiles goes in it, it will break but it would break no matter what since the base is tiles anyways if another method was used. Great work and beautiful finish.
@christovelasquez9595

@@jasonmyers-whitaker7753Incorrect. He used vwry little adhesive to bond the top and bottom shelf tiles together, that leave air cavities between the tiles which make them hollow and susceptible to point fracturing from a solid objects. The shelf tiles should've been fully bonded using thinset or even a light mortar to make the two separate tiles one solid and strong shelf.

@Pounce Pounce I'm only adequate at tiling this is next level, I have ocd issues so this keeps me up at night 🤣 @Pounce Pounce Rust increases mass and expands, grout is both corrosive and porous this means that the once the alkaline has eroded the zinc galvanised layer, water will be reacting with the mild steel and the resulting iron oxide will leech into the substrate and stain the surface, the steel will slowly expand with oxide, gently separating the two tiles, imperceptibly at first, later faster 🙄 This could take months or years depending on the humidity of the room. Or I could just be waffling, jealous of your skills 😏
@pouncepounce7417
Жыл бұрын
@@markgordon4368 Depends a lot on the rooms humidity. 99% of all that skill is pretty much knowing what you can get away with anyways. I work lots with glue and everything sticky, you have tons of documentation what to how to use to stick things together, but the true master of sticky ZEN do dumb trial and error and gain wisdom that baffles scientists of glue. So yeah,, all that expert crap is 50% winging it, 50% dumb trial and error. So my bet is, if that guy is a few years in the biz he probably always did it that way and never heard of any problems. I personally would use some sort of plastic to anchor them because i am paranoid due to doing a lot with trucks and cars, or go straight for an only tile construction...
