A quick way to create a bevel by using Polygroups:
1) Let's assume your input mesh has only one polygroup. We can automatically detect and assign new polygroups by using the Polygroups menu. Adjust the Maximum Angle Tolerance and apply it by clicking the Groups By Normals button. This automatically defines our polygroups based on their mesh surface curvature.
2) The next step is to create a proper topology edge flow. Go to the Geometry - ZRemesher menu and set a low value for the Target Polygon Count. Activate the Keep Groups button. Then, click on the ZRemesher button.
3) The final step is to create an edge bevel between polygroups. Go to the Geometry - Crease menu and activate the Crease Polygroups Border button. Tiny lines will appear exactly on the edges of all polygroups.
4) Change the Bevel Width property to make the bevel start to show. Use this property to adjust the size of the bevel. Click on the bevel button to apply a bevel to creased edges.
