I figure this out with ranger bands a year ago. I’ve tried many other ways of retention and this is by far the best for me.

Awesome tip, especially for vehicle work. I've been using hairbands that cost roughly three bucks a package. The also work great securing items to my vest or belt that I want off, IE tourniquet, or cable management.

Awesome. I was just checking out the ranger bands online to purchase. Then you mentioned bicycle innertube and I realized I have a few of those around. So you just saved me some money and time. Also I've been wanting to get one of those rubber sleeves that go over your grip and I see that the tube will cover that too. So this video sure was helpful to me for 2 reasons. Thanks again. Somthing so simple.

The "ranger band" is a ridiculous attempt to extort money for something that we made in this same fashion

Your stock isn't pinned? OMG, That's illegal in some states. (Hi, Maura!) Thanks for the tip of using inner tube. Ranger Bands (2" or 3.5") also work well. I was looking around for length choice between the two and discovered this. I've got a box of busted inner tubes in the garage. Game on. Just saved me $10-20, and a few days wait time. I've been in the habit of hanging sling over the flashlight. This feels just as good, with less chance of getting hung up.

you can also put the strap around the sling itself. you then don't have to attach it to your gun if you don't want to. Pull on any part of the sling and it unravels. I grip the fire control and pull the sling out, putting it over my head and hand in the same motion.

Ranger Bands are just wider EPDM rubber bands. You basically want a rubber band that can withstand UV radiation, ozone, and heat. EPDM is normally used for automotive wiper blades, door seals, etc... nitrile could work as well.

The fact that he attached that Magpul SL Stock with 1 hand and no table/vise is impressive, that stock is tight asf and its kinda a pain to attach to the buffer tube, hurts my fingers all the time.

Fantastic AR asking origami. This is a nice fit. Unfortunately I have the Maxim Defense pistol brace and it’s open at the back so when I pull the sling out the band goes flying off. I need to figure something out but this addresses where to wrap the sling. Love it. Thanks bro.

If you don't have 2 mags coupled, reverse to the front just past the pinned area and slide the band from the tip, hopefully that makes sense, and there's always velcro strap

Take the sling, wrap it tight and draw it over the rifle, opposite dominant side, then just loop around pistol grip with the rest that leaves some retention. I think warrior poet society did a quick vid on this.

I've always used ranger bands. But that appears to be a cheap way to do it. My Sgt always told me, it's only stupid if it didn't work. 🤣

No... Putting ranger bands directly on the buffer tube is an absolute terrible idea... It only seems like a great place until you try to charge your rifle in a hurry or under stress, and rubber rolls up and jacks up the charging handle. And even if they don't roll up, the handle won't clear the rubber under stress free conditions. It's all around a bad idea. Put them on the stock itself, or the forearm. Never put anything on your gun that impedes the operation!
