Sir, you are a gentleman and a scholar. There is a long list of things I have used ratchet straps for including a spring compressor for raising my jeep and for traction in the snow like tire chains. Never thought to seat a tire.

this was the way i needed to get my tire to seat. thanks, this step is glossed over by a lot of videos but I found it to be the most difficult part. The ratchet strap really made it easy. It didn't work at first so i ratcheted a little tighter and it finally started to fill.

Your a legend, this tricked worked amazing on my little e scooter with tubeless tires, didn't have a tension strap so used 3 plastic cable ties, been having nightmares after managing to fit the new tyre and having no luck getting the bead in correctly. Absolutely saved me 🙏 🙌 👍, thank you so much my brother.

I have a WR250 that I am constantly getting flats with... I am absolutely over tubes and found someone that fills the spokes with silicone, tapes the wheel and then runs the tires tubeless. The strap I've tried before but maybe not tight enough. Thanks for the tip!

I have tried this, fire, no dice. When I tighten the ratchet, it actually pulls the bead FURTHER inward than without. Cannot for the life of me get this tire seated. It is a worn motorcycle tire going onto a Ford 2N wheel, both the same size. Anyone got other ideas?

Did you figure it out? I’m having that problem right now. I let all the air back out and loosened the entire bead on the offending side and I’m just going to let it relax over night and try again tomorrow. Might try the strap though to see if it evens out the bead.

I have definitely used the ratchet strap method before! But hey, wanted some car shopping advice. My 99 ML430 is getting way too high up there in miles for me to feel good about towing with it anymore, although I still drive the truck once a week to keep it on the road and honestly have no issues with it. Anyways, thinking about moving up to a GL, possibly the Bluetec, thoughts? Then throw mud tires on the ML and keep it as a stunt vehicle, right? Haha
@fupabox
3 жыл бұрын
I have a few friends at work with GLs and they have had too many issues than I would prefer. If you only need at most 5200lbs towing I would go with the 4cyl GLK250 diesel . Vastly better reliability than the GL
@TheStiver
3 жыл бұрын
@@fupabox hmmmm actually after looking into it more, for the same money I could get a w166 ML350 diesel, what would you think about that? I probably wont ever pull the rated 7200lbs with that even, but it's nice to have some head room rather than push something to its limit

@@fupabox 1st gen comstars aren't tubeless. People run them without tubes, but that's not how they're designed. They're flat on the inside where a tubeless rim has a bead.
