Little longer than I was hoping. But I was having an issue with my fresh built engine losing coolant. Couldn’t see where it was going. Oil wasn’t milky, no signs of leaks on the outside. Ended up pulling the valve cover and found all four of my head casting plugs were leaking coolant past the threads. I believe this to be a workmanship issue from S&J engines, but that’s just my opinion based on what I’m seeing. Anyways, I decided to remove the plugs, clean them, apply a thread sealer (permatex 59214), then tighten the plugs down. Torque spec was more based on angle for pipe threads, but I opted for 40ft-lbs and it worked great. A quart of ATF in my oil worked wonders for removing the sludge. Just change often and keep the filter relatively new, especially if it’s now catching the sludge.
Hope this helps!
