Love how Simon brings up L David Marquet. We are US Naval Academy classmates. His leadership change was so wild he wasn't promoted to be a Flag Officer. We all need to "Turn the Ship Around"!

Wow Simon, it's an incredible podcast! 💘 I love the theme of quiet service, no advertising and that humility that keeps one from cheap pride. We live in a world wherein people love to put everything on social media but actually the real heroes behind the scenes, those genuine volunteers who give off from self through inconvenient situations make great people who make tremendous differences. I admire such souls who just give their time, energy and life to serve with getting nothing in return. Those people without self motive. 🙏 Thank you for sharing this ❗ ❣️.

Hi Simon.. I am from Indonesia. I'd like to tell you how wonderful the themes you've shared. It's very inspiring yet at the same time it is touching. Thank you for bringing this topic. And also for the general, he is such a humble person. Salute for both of you.

Service is the rent we pay for the privilege of living on this Earth. And the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others 🖖

I love General McChrystal’s book Team of Teams. His chapter on Lead like gardener changed my idea of what a leader really is.

Still searching for my "why", but this podcast was very helpful in narrowing my search. Quiet service is a big part of what drives me. I love "Mighty Mouse moments" where I can "save the day" and quietly slip back into the shadows. From teaching an elderly man how to navigate his computer to straightening the grocery carts in the cart corral in the store parking lot, I just want to help quietly and reduce the difficulties that my fellow humans must face. Hopefully, I can codify my why in the near future to find MY reason to get out of bed in the morning.

They’re just sorta waiting to be asked. How courageous would leadership need to be to do that one simple thing (ask vs. tell). Thank you Gen. McChrystal, about time we get started I’d say sir 👍✌️I believe our Dads served together in Vietnam by the way 🙏

[8:55] The mentioned issues of increasing Individualism, especially in situations where we are put under pressure individually, reminds me of the "Stag Hunt" model of Game Theory: Overwhelmed people only have mental capacity to hunt a Rabbit for themselves, instead of considering others to collectively hunt the Stag. And the less people are there to help with Stags, The more people just get forced to care about a Rabbit for themselves, to survive.

Fabulous discussion. But why do you have three times as many ads as any other channel on KZitem?

Life is really very simple . When you do good to other people , you make them happy after they do the same to other people . This is the only right way to make that world better and brake the wheel of evil . Political leaders should serve people , that's right they was chosen by them . We pay them not the ather way around . They always should remember that . United we are invincible . Every life is matter .

There's a reference to someone at 7:46 who's done work on changing behaviours - anyone knows which name it is? Can't find him:(
