Oh, wow, you are back! I was already afraid you might have got lost in Narnia (aka your closet). Seriously, I really love what you are doing.

What a delicate little gem. Minimal and beautifully melancholic. It's like peering into a little doll's house that's been neglected yet retains some ethereal beauty in its dilapidated state. And how Cicely is playing it is just so incredibly delicate yet so precise! Well done and thanks for letting me discover this piece!

I mean this in the best way, but feel like you're moving from 'performing', to expressing yourself with your music. It comes across very genuine. Love this!

What's the round shape cut into the top plate under the fingerboard? Never seen anything quite like that except on lutes.

It's a rosette! The cello is a copy of my grandfather's cello, a beautiful instrument by Goffriller. Goffriller actually made two cellos with those rosettes carved underneath the fingerboard, and Zuill Bailey has the other one. If I remember correctly, Goffriller was inspired by or did stained glass or something? Might be wrong on that. tarisio.com/cozio-archive/property/?ID=45110

Beautiful performance! I wonder, did performing this piece make you nervous because it was composed for you? In this performance, you sounded like you normally sound which is confident, cool and collected, but I'm just curious to know if you were also nervous? I'm a cellist as well and you're one of my favorite cellists to listen too. Keep up the great work Cicely!

Thanks, Christina! No, I didn't feel nervous at all! In general I feel a lot more confident playing pieces that were written for me - I end up knowing them super well and they feel like close friends :)

Nope, just a coincidence! I wrote Flow before Jocelyn wrote Quietude, and I'm 99.999999999999% sure she has never heard Flow 😂

What type of cello do you have? I never seen a cello with a circle in the middle

It's a 1981 Weertman, and it's a copy of a cello from 1698 called the "rosette" Gofriller.
