Nancy is starting a Quilt As You Go Tutorial. She shares the books she has used over the years and the quilts she has made.
One option to quilt as you go is using June Tailor's pre-printed blocks made with a cotton blend batting. You most likely can find these blocks in your local craft or quilt stores.
Several of the books Nancy mentions are no longer published but can be found by searching for their titles online and purchasing them through Ebay, Etsy or other websites.
Nancy used the book "Reverse Applique With No Brakez" by Jan Mullen for the quilt that commemorates a couple of her cats. The blocks were completed by themselves and then put together with some fun sashing. Even the border was fun!
Nancy also likes two books from Marti Michell, "Successful Machine Quilting" and "Machine Quilting in Sections." The "Machine Quilting in Sections" book gives great instructions to quilt as you go. The "Successful Machine Quilting" shows how to put borders on a quilt as you go. Nancy recommends one or both books to help you learn to quilt as you go.
The last book is the one Nancy is going to use for this tutorial. It is called Block by Block by Beth Donaldson. Nancy is going to use the blocks from the Quilted Tiles tutorial and show how to quilt them as you go. She'll show how to do the border and talk about the variety sashings plus how to cut sashings.
