Recently, the Angels only ever win when Shohei starts. And he provides his own run support; even stealing bases to get into scoring position. If that's not being valuable to his team (and to the sport), then I don't know what is. He's my back-to-back AL MVP.

Yap. Totally agree with you. But there has been always this argument. MVP needs to be chosen from the team won the world championship. The definition of most valuable is so vague.

@@reikok.n6829 There is that, yes, but last year Ohtani won AL MVP - unanimously - *despite* the Angels and against Vladdy, who was also having a great season on the hitting side. That just proves that Ohtani's MVP status shouldn't be brought down by Angels' losses; rather what should be considered is where would the Angels be without Shohei Ohtani. I think we all know the answer to that. He's one of the best hitters on the Angels and, this year, definitely its ace. That's MVP for me. :)

@@reikok.n6829 you’re talking about World Series mvp. It’s for the best player in the championship team. It’s not the same as AL season MVP. That would be Ohtani.

Old white men in media are getting jealous of shohei. That’s why they’re steering hard towards judge for mvp. It’s so silly. They all know shohei is way more valuable than judge but their ego and prejudice has gotten the best of them
Goldsmith good hitter = hank Aaron award Alcantara good pitcher = cy young Shohei Ohtani good pitcher and hitter = MVP Old white people very jealous of Ohtani winning another mvp back 2 back
