Story 3 is frustrating. People who need food are NOT choosing beggars for not wanting to get poisoned

Food pantries usually have to function with the blessing of the local officials, if B*tchy Lady is the head of the food pantry then OP might have to go to his town/city counsel and recommends that they look into that claim that 'food never does bad'

If something is free, you get CB's, seen many an A-hat dripping in gold with a nearly new iPhone glued to their ear queuing for a food bank, or sparking up a fag after leaving - priorities right

If they're giving away moldy food, they need to be reported to the public health department. For three years I relied on food banks to have enough to feed my entire family. This started before COVID, and extended into it. Most of the food was nonperishable, but the fresh stuff was almost always in good condition. I absolutely would let the workers know if anything was overripe or spoiled.

It’s like when someone has a food allergy and the pantry won’t accommodate that and then claims the person isn’t hungry enough when they won’t take food they or a family member is allergic too! I work in social services and yes, there are choosey baggers out there but asking to not get sick from the food you eat is so far below the minimum that should be expected!

Story 3 is such BS. "It's an all or nothing deal!" so they HAVE to eat rotting and rancid food in order to have some halfway decent food? I can't believe a charity worker could be such a Karen!

Yeah...I need to do...something...about my weight as well. I have depression that comes and goes on top of that and low self-esteem, and I'm not the best with people. I don't get out much. Last thing anyone wants to hear is "you're fat, go take a walk", but...well. Yeah. Not wrong. That EM, though...

Yep. I have offered gift cards to food places and been rebuffed. I have offered food and water bottles to people who were so grateful I smiled all day. One person was asking for money, and I said I'm living off food stamps, but does he like V8: he said yes, followed me to my car, and threw a temper tantrum when I tried to hand him two cans of V8 from my trunk. Some people are in need, and some are just entitled.

@@sherylcascadden4988 I'm sorry to read that you are living on food stamps. We are not good to our people in the US. It is sad that you were generous enough to offer food from your allotment and that still wasn't good enough! It speaks volumes about your wonderful kindness and equally about his awful entitlement.

In story 3, potatoes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, tobacco and peppers are part of the Nightshade family, poisonous, edible if ripe, but dangerous if green, or over-ripe. If anyone falls ill/dies due to poisoning the organization could be charged with murder/attempted murder.

And they will deny, deny, deny and claim you did something wrong in storage/preparation. At best, negligent homicide and probably not even that. You contact the health department or USDA and make a complaint.

About contracts- be careful about signing them too! Tried to have a small business, and someone tried to hire me with a contract with 'freedom from court mediation' clauses. I turned them down because of that really shady wording (and a couple other red flags) and they said, 'well since you're not willing to negotiate guess we will not do business'. Really shady, and one of the reasons I'm not really trying to be self employed anymore.

A bit late, but story1 reminded me of a couple of classmates. The families of almost everyone in class donated so they could have books and other materials they needed. Some bought them clothes or food. On the 3rd-4th year in a row doing this one of the moms found out they had ac at home(no one had that back then), internet (no fucking one had that back then and it was super expensive), cable television (it was rare and almost no one else in class had it), a few big ass tv and disc readers/recorders(wich was sort of common) and two houses. Two fucking houses, but could not afford what was at the time close to $30 in books and other school materials once a year nor food for their kids to eat during midday break. Somehow all the help stopped.

Story 2; yeah, it's great and all trying to do something nice for people but I've literally been in that situation where someone's tried to help me, but the place/shop/help was somewhere I couldn't get because it wasn't near a bus route and disability sucks because you can't just walk long distances. So I get both sides. The boy may be overweight because he's disabled and CAN'T do anything. It's not really being rude or entitled, it's literally "I have no idea how I'm going to do this." and it's pretty terrible and people like this need to stop being so judgemental tbh. They're the reason why being disabled isn't just inconvenient which is what it would be if people weren't like this, but absolutely hellish. It's horrible being given something (or rather, having something dangled in front of you) only to find out you can't get it/do it because it's so far away (and yeah two miles is undoable for a lot of people) and that's when the despair starts in when you have so little. Try to have some compassion and if you give someone something like this, make sure that it's within their ability to get to.

Um, his doctor was giving him a discount/freebie if using a particular pharmacy. It's the mom who's being a bitchy child (IMO). And if driving an extra two miles is going to break her (she was asking for gas money) how is she going to pay for the gas to get back to the doctor's office to get get the money she thinks she is owed?

I understand disability. But from the context of the story there was nothing wrong with the kid some exercise and a better diet wouldn't cure BEFORE it turns into full blown type ll diabetes. No mention of any kind of disability in this case.
