Me!! Jesus....that opening shimmered in out of nowhere and took me right back to 1995 and 15 year old me. The timing of the dialogue in that scene was beautiful ' you know with love comes strange currencies' I only realise how lyrically perfect this track is as a 42 year old. Had it going round my head all day at work

Always liked REM. This song came out as I was turning 30 and was busy with career, starting family etc. So I never heard it. This past Holiday Season my son was in MSK hospital when his cancer returned. One day on ride home, amongst the holiday music on radio, I heard this song and not knowing what it was about felt how sad it was and it was about missed love. It stuck with me and I would play it every time on way home from hospital as my son’s health deteriorated. He passed in late January and this song always reminds me of my son and that time. Love you forever buddy. 🥲

Find the sayings/songs/thoughts that help you in dark times - keep them close to you. We share lonely times with a world full of lonely people, so you are really never alone - just need to find the ones with the love and comfort for you - you don’t need the rest (save the haters for themselves). Sometimes dealing with healing is a process that unravels over time, you can’t rush it, just let it unfold with time. Be strong/safe and loved.

Michael Wilson I studied the piano in my native city of Moscow, Russia between the ages of 6 and 18, seriously considering to become a professional at one point. The people I admire the most include Emil Gilels, Walter Gieseking and other pianistic greats some of whose rare recordings I uploaded on my channel. And yet I realize that valorizing “real instruments”, as if electronic music were somehow a lesser cultural form, is the telltale sign of a dullard with limited perspective on art and society. What you said merely rehashes the Great Teen Pop vs Nu Metal debate of 1999, where every single participant was a dumb American.
