Chapdi Tavo also called chapadi undhiyu is originated from Rajkot and it should be consumed like Daal Baati. Means before you start eating Chapdis, you should crush them with your palms/hand. Once done you should pour in Undhiyu in this, mix it and eat it. Undhiyu is a very famous Gujarati dish in the whole world. This Undhiyu is different than regular undhiyu. This Undhiyu is liquidy than normal undhiyu. Chapdi undhiyu is spicy recipe so specially enjoyed in winter. This one is perfect winter recipe.
Ingredients :-
For chapdi:-
5 cup wheat flour (coarse)
1 tbsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp white sesame
3-4 tbsp oil
1 cup warm milk
to taste Salt
as needed Water
Oil for frying
For Tavo(undhiyu):-
5 to 6 tbsp oil
4 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
2 star anise
2 whole red chilli
1 tsp mustard seeds ( Rai )
1/2 tsp asafoetida ( Hing )
3 tbsp ginger, garlic & chilli paste
2 chopped onion
1 cup chopped dudhi
1 cup chopped eggplant
1 cup chopped potatoes
1/4 cup chopped cluster beans ( guvar )
1 cup chopped ivy gourd ( Tindora )
1/2 cup chopped carat
1 cup cauliflower cut in smallpieces
1/2 cup green peas
1/4 cup Val papdi
1/4 cup green chana
1/4 cup green pigeon peas
1/4 cup chauri (indian string beans)
1 cup surti papdi (indian flat beans)
2 tomato chopped
1 tsp haldi(Turmeric) powder
1-1/2 tbsp coriander- cumin powder
3 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
1 tbsp garam masala
1 tbsp sugar ( optional )
1 tbsp lemon juice
3 tbsp chopped coriander
to taste Salt
